Chapter Eight

'So, we've done knives.' Jac says. 'Check.' Ember replies. 'And we've done shooting.' She says again, receiving another 'check' from Ember. 'Only combat left.' Red joins in. 'Yeah.' Jac and Ember answer. 'Hey Red, you ready to get your butt kicked?' I ask confidently. 'Oh I don't think so, you're the one's whose Butt's gonna be kicked.' He answers in the same tone. 'Oh it's on bruh.' I reply. I hear a low chuckle somewhere nearby. I look up and the noise came from... Eric. He's writing two versus two matches on a blackboard. They'll be ten matches in total. Because twenty divided by two is ten. Math... He's done writing the last match, so he turns and stands at the side of it, so people can see.

I look over at Red who has a shocked and scared look on his face. Not that confident, is he? I lift my eyes up only for another pair of eyes to look into mine. I keep my eyes focused there for a second, then I make out the rest of their face. Two piercings above his left eye, icy blue eyes and cheekbones- that you wouldn't be able to notice from far away- but up close you can tell he worked hard to earn them. My brain's gone blank; I can't think. Who is it? It feels like everything around me has gone still- the noise, gone, no movement whatsoever. Stop daydreaming Lana, snap out of it. I blink a few times then shake my head as if to wake myself up and out of my daydream. When I look up this time the first person I see is Four talking with Eric, who then walks out of the training room. I guess Four's gonna be watching us, making sure we don't kill eachother, not Eric. 'Alright, Jac, Annie, you're up.'

When Jac gets on the mat after a average-sized girl with thin, blond hair, I wave at her and give her a thumbs up. She smiles at me and turns away just before Four says 'go'. They circle each other a couple of times and both wait for the other to make the first move, neither do, so Annie strikes first. She goes to punch Jac in the stomach, but Jac dodges and kicks Annie in her left calf. The force of it knocks her over, and in the blink of an eye, Jac's hovering over her, keeping Annie's legs from kicking her. Jac punches Annie twice in the face, then once in her stomach, delivering a final blow to Annie's purple-blue cheek. Jac knocks her out, and two people take her to the infirmary.

Simon knocks Olivia out in a few punches, Jack knocks out Holly after a long time of circling, Callum wins after about five minutes, India kicks until Declan doesn't move, and Caitlyn tires Jason out and successfully delivers a side kick to his right side along with a few punches to the face. 'Alex, Ember, you're next.' They both get onto the mat and circle each other, Alex makes the first move- a punch to Ember's face, leaving a red mark on her right cheek. Ember steps back, then leaps forward and tries to superman-punch Alex in the face- but fails. Alex grabs her wrists, twists them, then throws her onto the floor, she lands on her right side and screams in pain as her opposite arm reaches towards her injury.

But Alex doesn't stop.

He towers over the top of her and kicks her in her right side, making Ember cry in pain. Two kicks to her left and two kicks to her right side, then he sits on her legs and punches her repeatedly in the face, making bruises appear wherever he touches. Eventually, Ember gives up, and goes uncontious. Two more people collect Ember and take her to the infirmary. Corey and Mia win their fights, and now it's my turn.
