'Maybe, I should start from the start.' Dhisana thought as she entered the camp, after finishing her morning rituals.
There she saw her husband putting his battlegear on. Some sun rays had penetrated through the tent and were falling over him as he tied his armlets.
Under sunlight, he shone like melted gold. But his face remained expressionless. But why ? Dhisana couldn't help wonder everytime she saw his stoic face.
'I have to start from start.' She told herself as she entered.
"Raudra, are you going for inspections again ?" Dhisana asked.
"Yes. Due to yesterday's battle I couldn't inspect all of Varanasahrya." Manvendra said, not sparing her a glance but being focused on tying his armour.
"When will you be back ?" She asked.
"Why do you ask ?" He asked looking at her.
All the confidence that she had gathered, seemed to be collapsing under his gaze. The gaze which pierced right through her eyes every time. A red tint appeared on her face as she looked down.
"I was.... I was wondering..." She got a little shy.
"Wondering what ?" Manvendra asked.
"Wondering if you'd show me around." Dhisana said, "I mean, I might need a few things for myself." She quickly added.
"If you need anything, tell Bela. She'll fetch it for you." He said.
"But I wish to go with you. So you may show me around." Dhisana said.
"Bela is familiar with Varanasahrya. She can show you around." Manvendra said.
"Am I married to Bela or you !? Can't you understand I want to spend time with you ! Hence I'm asking !" She blurted out in frustration.
But suddenly got shocked realising she raised her voice on whom, she looked at Manvendra whose mouth fell apart slightly, he looked a little taken aback, not at her exclamation but at the fact she wanted to spend time with him.
Manvendra fell into thoughts for a moment. As a husband he should fulfil her wishes, that's what he had seen and learnt from his father.
"I-I am sorry." Dhisana quickly said before looking down in embarrassment.
"I'll be back at noon. And then take you wherever you want." Manvendra said, "Also, if you want anything from me then tell straightforwardly." He told her before heading out.
Dhisana covered her face in embarrassment, but she was a little happy that atleast happy that he agreed to spend time with her.
Manvendra sighed as he went up to his horse.
"Silly girl. Talks in riddlish and yells at me when I can't guess." He muttered caressing the head of his horse, "But I wouldn't blame her on this one." He said.
Suddenly a ticklish fluttery sensation took over his chest. A groan of frustration left his lips.
"This girl, she's definitely doing something to me." Manvendra muttered before mounting on the horse.
------
Dhisana was getting ready, her husband would be back anytime and give her a tour of Varanasahrya. She was excited to spend time with him. Perhaps, she'll even get to talk to him properly now.
"Finally we shall have some time." Dhisana said to Bela who was braiding her hair.
"I hope your time will be fruitful." Bela said with a smile.
She finished tying the hair of the princess. Dhisana looked herself in the mirror, a satisfied smile appeared on her face.
Suddenly sounds of heavy yet familiar footsteps fell on their ears. Dhisana stood up with delight, knowing her husband has come.
Manvendra entered the tent, and stopped in his tracks looking at Dhisana, who was dressed in red, her hair loosely braided and adorned with lots of flowers. She looked ethereal and he couldn't help but take a moment to take all her beauty and the beauty of her attire in.
"Is your inspection of Varanasahrya over ?" Dhisana asked.
"Yes." Manvendra said.
"Then may we go now ? Or do you wish to rest for sometime ?" Dhisana asked, her tone polite.
But before he could reply, Ashwasen called out, "Aryaputra, a royal messanger wishes to meet you." He told.
"Come in." Manvendra said.
Ashwasen came in with another man of medium stature, Manvendra instantly came to know he was no messanger but the spy of his father.
"I have brought this to you." He said handing him a small scroll.
Manvendra unrolled it and began reading the message, a frown appeared on his face.
•••••
Manvendra,I wish I could congratulate you wholeheartedly on your marriage, but another grave conspiracy had been undertaken by the Kauravas against the sons of Pandu.
You must've been aware that Pandavas had been living in Varnavart since past year. But last night, they have perished in fire, or so all think as they should.
Do what needs to be done, so there are no suspicions, for the sake of Pandavas and Hastinapur.
Your father
Vidur.•••••
Reading it Manvendra's face again became unreadable. He kept the scroll on his waist band, before heading out.
"Raudra, where are you going ?" Dhisana asked.
"To Varnavart." He said simply and then turned to Ashwasen, "I'm leaving you incharge of the campment." Manvendra told.
"As you command." Ashwasen bowed his head.
Manvendra then went out, leaving behind a disheartened Dhisana.
