On April 21, 1967, the 100 millionth GM vehicle rolled off the line at the plant in Janesville-- a blue two-door Caprice. There was a big ceremony, speeches. The lieutenant governor even showed up. Three days later, another car rolled off the same line. No one gave two craps about her. But they should have. Because this 1967 Chevrolet Impala would turn out to be the most important car--in fact the most important object in pretty much the whole universe.

She was first owned by Sal Moriarty, an alcoholic with two ex-wives and three blocked arteries. On weekends, he'd drive around giving Bibles to the poor. "Getting folks right for Judgement Day." That's what he said. Sam, Karina, and Dean don't know any of this, but if they did, I bet they'd smile. After Sal died, she ended up at Rainbow Motors, a used car in Lawrence, where a young marine bought her on impulse. That is, after a little advice from a friend.

I guess that's where this story begins... and here's where it ends.

Sam Winchester was resting on the hood of the Impala, looking at the scenery in the junkyard. He was holding a beer in his hand when he heard footsteps behind him. He looked over, seeing his big brother-- Dean Winchester.

"Hey." He took out a bottle out of the cooler next to the car, then leaned against the Impala. "Dean? What's going on?"

He twisted the cap off as he looked down on the ground, "I'm in." He threw the cap away, leaving his little brother confused to hear.

"In with...?"

"The whole "up with Satan" thing." Sam swung his legs aside to look at him to see he was serious. He repeated seriously, "I'm on board."

"You're gonna let me say yes?"

"No. That's the thing. It's not on me to let you do anything. You're a grown--well, overgrown-- man. If this is what you want, I'll back your play."

"That's the last thing I thought you'd ever say."

"Might be. I'm not gonna lie to you, though. It goes against every fiber I got."

"What about Karina? What did she think of it?"

Dean chuckled softly as he took a drink. He opened his words to him honestly, "Karina-- she really had more faith in you than I do. Even though she had to make a choice. I'm sure she'll bring you back before she does. You know... watching out for you... it's kinda been my job, you know? But more than that, it's... it's kinda who I am.'

"From that moment, I listened to that voicemail from Dad. I never thought that she would be part of us. A family. She had been looking out for us for so many years... she knew exactly who she was. She's a Huntress, and we're Winchesters. We're a team.'

"She's right... You're allowed to make decisions. You're not a kid anymore, Sam, and I can't keep treating you like one. Maybe I got to grow up a little, too. I don't know if we got a snowball's chance. But... But I do know that if anybody can do it... it's you."

Sam looked down as he listened to his words, taking it all in. "Thank you."

"If this is what you want..." He faced him in certainty, "Is this really what you want?"

He inhaled deeply as he thought more before responding, "I let him out. I got to put him back in." He looked at Dean, whose eyes were consumed with determination.

His eyes averted his gaze as he looked out in the distance, "Okay. That's it, then." Each of the Winchesters took a drink of their beers, embracing their moments together.

Karina Leone was outside, standing by Bobby's van. She saw Sam and Castiel carrying gallons of demon blood. The sight of the dark red liquid tensed her even Dean had the same feeling. He wiped the blood off his cheek before approaching her and Bobby.
