Prologue: The Chandelier

Ace and Deuce shot their magic at Grim as he dodged with Yuu close behind them. .

"You two actually hit Grim!" Yuu said barking orders to them

"We're trying! Hurry up Juice" Ace yells back to him using his magic to try and catch Grim but failing miserably.

"My name is Deuce! With a D! D-e-u-c-e!" He spells it out for Ace, also failing to catch Grim with his magic.

"Argh! Stop jumping around like that!" Ace says frustratedly.

"Heh heh heh! Catch me if you can!" Grim sticks out his tounge taunting Ace, climbing on top of the chandelier in the cafeteria.

"No fair climbing up onto the chandelier, you coward!" Deuce yells at Grim shaking a fist then trying to think of a way to get him down "I haven't really learned flight magic yet...What could I summon to hold onto him...? Hmmm..." Deuce suddenly got an idea which Yuu had a bad feeling about "Oh! That's it!"

"I know flight magic I could help a bit-" Yuu pauses and looks at Deuce bewildered as he points his magic pen at Ace "What the heck are you doing?!" Yuu says looking at Deuce, severely concerned.

"Because I'm going to launch you." Duece says determined.

"WHAT?" Ace and Yuu yell at the same time.

"Are you crazy?! Don't do that you're gonna surely get us in trouble Deuce" Yuu tries to reason with him but he doesn't seem to hear Yuu's attempts to stop him.

"Are you kidding me?!" Deuce uses his magic to float Ace "Bwaaah! Put me down!" He says trying to stop Deuce "Seriously, do not launch me! Abort! ABORT" He flails in the air.

"Just make sure to grab him tight." He says aiming Ace at Grim. Yuu could not believe the type of stupidity he was seeing right now. "I've got him in my sights, and... Go!" He says shooting Ace right at Grim.

"BWAAAAAAAH!!" Grim and Ace both cry out in surprise as the chandelier comes crashing down to the floor the glass shattering in several peice.

Yuu looks at the scene in horror "Excuse my language, but what the hell is wrong with you?!" His eyes widen with horror as he tries to think of a solution "I-I can fix it- My magic...!" Nickolas looks frantically for his pen.

"I cannot believe you just did that!" Ace coughs still shocked from the recent events.

"Oh, right! I probably should have come up with a way to soften your landing after you caught him..." Deuce says thoughtfully.

"You Idiot! Thats what you're thinking about?! If I didn't leave my pen in my dorm by accident I could fix this mess! But I didn't think today that some absolute imbecile would be dumb enough to break, excuse my language again THE FUCKING SCHOOL CHANDELIER JUST TO GET A GOD DAMN CAT!? Oooh once I get my pen back I'm going to end you two " Yuu yells at Deuce so shocked all he can do is yell insults at Deuce.

"You complete and total moron!" Ace yells at Deuce as well "We got Grim, but we broke the chandelier! If the headmage finds out about this-" he's interrupted by a voice behind him, Yuu's face goes white. It's the headmaster. "Ah! Headmage Crowley...!" Ace gasps.

"YOU. THREE. AGAIN. What have you done this time?!" The headmage seems furious.

"Burning a statue wasn't enough for you? Now you've destroyed a chandelier?!" He frowns "Enough. All of you are expelled."

"Headmage this wasn't my fault I tried to stop them! And if we're really putting fault on people it was Deuce." Yuu says glaring at Deuce

"Wah-?!" Deuce looks at Yuu bewildered.

"Don't act like you didn't just break the chandelier because of your actions!" Yuu scrunches his nose in anger.

"Wait! Headmage, please! Give me a second chance! I can't get expelled from this school! I need to be here!" Deuce begged the Headmage

Crowley shook his head in disappointment and crossed his arms "Then blame yourself for your own foolish behavior."

"I'll pay for the damages! However much it costs!" Deuce says desperatly.

"That chandelier is no mere light fixture. It is magical chandelier. Its candles are powered by a magical energy source, enchanted so that they will burn for eternity.
It was created for us by a legendary artificer. Possibly their finest creation. It has been here since the school was established, and I imagined it would be here forevermore.
Considering its historical value, I would estimate its worth to be no less than a billion thaumarks." He raised an eyebrow at Deuce "And you intend to repay that sum?"

"That's gonna gonna take you 100 years to pay off minimum." Yuu says pinching the bridge of his nose, disappointed.

"A... A billion marks?!" Deuce stammers in shock.

"B-But I'm sure with your magical talent, sir, you could snap your fingers and fix it right up!" Ace suggests.

Crowley sighs "Even magic has its limits" The headmage clears his throat "Furthermore, its magestone, the figurative heart of any magical artifact, is cracked. A magestone cannot easily be replaced. I fear the candles of this majestic chandelier will never burn again."

Yuu gives up on offering to fix it and just sighs.

"This is bad..." Ace says nervously.

"What am I going to do?! How am I going to tell my mother...?" Deuce says panicking.

"Ah...! But there may be on way. One tiny sliver of chance to repair this chandelier." He says sparking hope in the three boys. (I have no idea what hes saying I understand none of this 💀 But there may be on way?? Wtf does that even mean 💀💀💀)

"There is?!" Ace and Deuce says excitedly
