Like every Kai Amarya in family, the Dantatas went all out for Asiyah. Muhibba Dantata had her revenge on Mas'ood by denying him and his groomsmen access into house until a whole hour had passed. The Yini Biki was held in Umar Dantata's compound at Darmanawa and it was an extremely colourful event.
Although the men pleaded with their women to have mercy, the women and the bride herself dressed to slay. For the Kai Amarya, the bridesmaids wore comfortable clothes while Asiyah wore a long sleeved blouse and a wrap skirt sewn out of white saqi with gold flowers.
For the Yini Biki, she changed into a slip styled dress with bishop sleeves and a head cape all sewn from black saqi with gold embroidery.
The mothers wore outfits (mainly boubous) sewn from their uniform cream luxury adire material which was paired with beautifully woven saqis for head and shoulder. The bridesmaids on the other hand wore pink and brown medium adire with brown saqis for their heads and shoulders. The shade of brown went with that of the material used to sew the babanrigas the groomsmen wore.
The event ended before Maghrib and every single person was to ready to collapse. Asiyah held onto Mas'ood for dear life and the smile on both their faces were nearly permanent. After Isha, Umar advised that it would be better if they headed back that same night.
"It's better than having to rush down tomorrow, rush to the venue to ensure that everything is set before rushing back home to get changed and pray, and then returning for the reception itself."
Mas'ood, whose cap was lost somewhere in the house, pulled at his hair. "Wallahi you people don't like me in this house. Why is it my wedding that you want to do everything differently? First Hajiya Dantata kept me outside and now, you want us to fly back to Abuja this night when the plan was to sleep over."
Asiyah moved to stand beside Umar. "Baba does have a point though, Mas'ood. Besides, it's just an hour flight. We'll be fine."
Mas'ood swallowed his scream and forced on a smile. "Who am I to argue with you, Asiyah? Let's go back to Abuja."
She laughed and left her father-in-law's side. "I love you, Chef Dantata." She stood on her toes and kissed his cheek. "It's just one more day. We'll be okay."
