"I get to see you next tomorrow evening! If I tell you I'm not excited, I am a big liar."
Hauwa smiled at her best friend. It was Thursday, September 2nd and she was slowly getting packed for her Saturday trip. Hanan and Zayd were in Cairo for their honeymoon, most of the guests had returned to their various states of residence and everyone else was resting, trying to get back their energy. Efua and Ashanti left for Accra that morning and Amal was to leave for the UAE on Monday.
Hauwa zipped close the bag containing snacks she wouldn't find so often in Edo and pushed it aside. She then focused on Kaycee. "I'm excited too. I'm a bit sad because Abuja was nice but I have missed you. I'm glad you're much better."
Kaycee grinned, her face occupying most of the screen. "I was pampered by Afe ehn."
Hauwa's smile was warm. "I can imagine. He's on husband duty already. It's inevitable sha, he needs to win points for himself."
Kaycee blushed deeply. "Shut up your mouth."
Hauwa threw her head back and laughed. She was still easing out of Hanan and Zayd's wedding and she knew it was only a matter of time before she eased in Kaycee and Afe's. She couldn't wait.
"I'll come and spend the week with you since your parents are staying back in Abuja." Kaycee told her. "I have the week off. Afe told them I was sick so they gave me the week."
Hauwa's smile returned. "I'd like that. We'll gist and watch a lot of videos. There are so many posts from the wedding ehn. I feel like I can never finish viewing all of them."
"My dear, hmm. I was so shocked...You sha. You just went there to slay and steal the spotlight."
"Was I supposed to look like a beggar? I had to slay na. With the money I paid for those dresses, I had to look good."
"Omo, Hauwa, you were hot!" Kaycee used her hands to fan herself, dramatic as ever. "I've just been seeing comments on the posts. Your followers have increased sef. Did you even know you were causing chaos on top your sister's wedding?"
Hauwa had on her most innocent look. "I have no idea what you're talking about, Kaycee."
Kaycee eyed her. "Na so. You go just open mouth waa, dey lie."
Hauwa chuckled. "Kaycee please leave me alone, I beg you."
"Ah, I no fit." Kaycee suddenly clapped once. Her face lit up. "Ehen! Omo those Dantata men are fine o. I know they were fine when they came for the introduction but it's like they became finer during the wedding. Don't even allow me talk about Amal's brother. Hauwa, I know you said he's fine but omo! Na spec be dat."
Hauwa's smile was small. She pulled her knees up to her chest. "Yeah, they're fine. I'm meeting Mas'ood and Mahmud tomorrow."
Kaycee further leaned forward, obviously interested. "Na date?"
Hauwa thought about it for a moment. "Well, Mas'ood says it's a kitchen date. We'll be making brunch together. As for Mahmud, I'm going to see him at work. I'll be with Mahmud in the afternoon after Jumm'ah and I'll be with Mas'ood in the morning. He said he had some things to tell me."
"Who? Mas'ood?"
Hauwa nodded. "Yep. He said it's nothing to really worry about but I've been curious since that phone call. No matter how many times I ask for a hint, he won't say anything."
Kaycee smiled slyly. "Abi he wan confess?"
Hauwa snorted. "Abeg don't even go there. You always think of the weirdest things, Kaycee."
