I sat in silence next to my mother, swirling the wine in my glass and taking slow sips. But my eyes kept lingering on her friend, a cold, heavy dread settling in my chest. I just had this terrible premonition—that tonight, something terrible was about to unfold. I trusted that feeling completely, which was why I refused to let anything slide. I had to be absolutely sure, absolutely prepared.
It was better to be overcautious than regret it later. All it would take was one moment of distraction, and our family could be torn apart. And damn it... I would never forgive myself, never accept it, if harm ever came to my parents. I loved them more than anything—they were like the most delicate, precious things in my world, and I swore I'd never let anyone or anything break them.
I just turned my gaze elsewhere — because tonight, I'm supposed to enjoy myself. But how can I even be happy when I can feel danger looming near?
Damn it! It's rare enough that I'm actually having a good time, but of course — someone just has to show up and be a pain in the ass!
Seriously?! Does no one here ever stop watching everything I do? How stunning do I have to be for these animals to keep staring and following my every move?
Aiya! Think positive, Lunar. You need to come down and stay alert. Oh right! The moment any danger comes, I have to prioritize my parents first. They're all I have, and they are my whole life. If anything happened to them, I'd definitely be done for. And of course, I can't let them happen — I haven't even finished the last course I enrolled in yet! Seriously? After all the hard work I've put in, I'm just going to die suddenly? No way.
'Heh? Are they fucking with me?!'
Out of all the courses I've studied— from Tourism, BS MedTech, Law, and Criminology, to Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Design, and Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design—only now did I realize that what I really wanted all along was Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design and Merchandising? Geez! I've practically completed the whole Visual & Creative Arts field with all the courses I've taken.
It's a good thing I'm wealthy and intelligent, so nobody ever dared question my choices. I mean, who wouldn't raise an eyebrow seeing me keep going back to college over and over again? But whatever, I pay no mind to what others think. After all, what most people view as their ultimate dream course is honestly just a piece of cake for me.
And another thing—every single one of those courses take 4 years each, not even counting the extra years required just to qualify for Law school. But hey, when you're smart and rich, time means nothing. I finished every single one of them with absolute ease.
All those courses combined would normally take twenty-eight straight years of college study, but because I'm brilliant and everything comes easily to me, I completed it all by the time I was only twenty-one. I started when I was seventeen, and turned eighteen while I was already halfway through first year. Basically, during all those years, I did nothing but study — locked away in my room, in libraries, or on campus. All my professors had no choice but to graduate me early, thanks to my extremely high IQ.
But turns out, my studies didn't even end there. I still wanted to take up Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design and Merchandising.
That's why I can't afford to die young — not until I've achieved everything I want.
