2 weeks later

"babe, can you come down here?" i called from the kitchen as i placed the grocery bags down on the counter. i was going to start dinner in a few hours and needed a few things, so i ordered them online so i didn't have to leave the twins.

the two of them were currently in their high chairs, playing with their blocks on the trays to pass the time. aurora was starting to look more and more like y/n everyday as jay began to look more like me, both of their dark curls making an appearance.

aurora was a lot louder and more talkative than jay. even through they're still just babies, she proves to be more rebellious than her brother. jay always eats his food and stays on his belly during tummy time while aurora spits her food out and rolls over on jay during tummy time. they were complete polar opposites which always kept things exciting.

the twins are just a week shy of eight months old, and i just couldn't believe it. it felt like just last week i was finding out i was pregnant again and telling y/n, and just yesterday that they were brought into this world.

my brain has been completely jumbled lately as i've been planning both their first birthday's, because i'm extra, and our wedding.

we've already decided that we want to have the weeding at home and keep our guests almost strictly friends and family, with a few exceptions. we've also decided to set the date for almost a year from now, in mid-may. it gave us enough time to make sure everything was perfect, gave people enough time to clear their schedules, and it gave us enough time for the twins to get a bit bigger because babies at my wedding is my worst fear, even if they're my own babies.

i huffed as there was no answer from upstairs, so i grabbed both twins with a bit of struggle before making my way upstairs. i gently kicked the door of our bedroom open with my foot as jay tangled his hand in my ponytail. i fully expected to see y/n chilling on her phone, but to my surprise she was knocked out and buried under the covers.

i frowned, making my way to the bed and laying the twins down on my side.

"honey?" i spoke softly, not wanting to scare her as i laid my hand on her shoulder. i pulled back the covers so i could see her face, and i was upset to see her face contorted in what looked like pain.

i pushed her hair away from her face and stroked her cheek, trying to slowly wake her. i watched as her expression softened at my touch and her eyelashes began to flutter. i smiled as her eyes opened a bit and her body began to move.

"hi, baby. you okay?" i ran my finger along her eyebrow as her eyes began to look around. her nose scrunched as she blinked harshly before yawning. "have you been sleeping this whole time?"

"mmf-" was all that left her lips, making me giggle. i leaned back as y/n began to sit up, her hands pressing into her eyes. "w-what time is it?" y/n's voice was groggy and slow as she looked over to the twins.

my eyes darted over to the clock on her bedside. "uh, it's almost half-past five." i placed my hand on her knee that was hidden behind the covers as i watched her body deflate.

"shit, i'm sorry. i didn't mean to." y/n mumbled as jay began to crawl over to her. she reached out to grab him and plop him in her lap, his head leaning against her chest.

"don't apologize, honey. sometimes you just need a reset, and that's okay. i just came up to ask if you wanted me to make dinner or if you wanted to? i know you like to sometimes. i was thinking those tacos you like?" i tilted my head as aurora came crawling to y/n next, clearly jealous of the attention she was giving to jay. a smile crossed my face as y/n reached for her too, plopping her right next to jay on her lap.
