CHAPTER SEVEN
We Were Legends

Alyssa couldn't feel much of her body, but she felt someone trying to roughly pull her up from the ground, she kicked said person with all of the strength that she could gather.

Thankfully, adrenaline had kicked in and allowed for Alyssa to take her pistol and shoot him. It was a HYDRA agent, she could tell. She ran like hell to get away and could feel dry blood all over her from the crash.

Many back at the base assumed she was dead. She figured more HYDRA agents would approach soon, but she tried looking for Bucky until she found him. She dropped down onto the snow out of pure fatigue.

He was barely moving, she assumed he'd die shortly. Bucky looked up at Alyssa with crappy vision and confusion. "What ha–"

"I'm fine."

"I might have blurred vision right now, and I'm probably gonna die, but I know you're not. You got blood all over you." Bucky tried to laugh, but spat up a little bit of blood instead. "Did you have a thing for Steve?" He asked her.

"Hell no. Not my type. Too patriotic. What about you?"

"I don't know..." He trailed off, he started drifting away.

Alyssa stood up, walking away from Bucky slowly, mainly because she was in so much physical pain.

Peggy sat in front of Steve, after they had talked about Bucky's fall, Steve changed it to Alyssa.

"Steve, I know it's hard to believe, but Alyssa has survived a lot of situations where a normal person couldn't dream of. I'm sure she's alive, maybe a little sore, but alive nonetheless."

Everyone was sat in a room where Colonel Phillips was explaining the plan when Alyssa walked in, or staggered really.

Colonel Phillips looked at her as if he'd seen a ghost, causing everyone else to look in her direction. Steve had hope in his eyes, but she looked down. "Somebody get Collins to a medic, now!" Colonel Phillips ordered vaguely.

Howard stood by her side, making sure she wouldn't fall, but didn't dare to touch her side to help.

"How the hell are you still alive?" Howard questioned.

"I don't know, Stark." She responded.

Alyssa sat on the gurney, telling Howard to leave her alone to be by herself, and hesitantly, he left.

She slowly brought her hand up to touch the wounds on her arm. It stung like hell and fury, but it somehow didn't bother her as much as she thought it would. Alyssa couldn't think to lie down on the gurney, every time she tried, it burned in her throat and made her feel sick. Therefore, she opted for sitting up in pain and misery.

Alyssa thought she was seeing things when someone walked into the medical room. They didn't seem harmful or at least ready to hurt her, and she also felt like she couldn't move, so she'd just have to accept death if it arrived. "Who are you?" She questioned.

"Sorry, I should have knocked, my name is Theo. I was instructed by the Royal Air Force to drop off these papers for you." He handed the file to her gently with a small smile.

Alyssa looked at it and sighed. "More paperwork, how lovely."

"That doesn't seem fair, you were in a plane crash not too long ago... shouldn't you be able to rest?" Theo asked her, confused.

Alyssa nodded, "that's how it should be."

Theo nodded in agreement before he was about to leave. When Alyssa touched the papers, she felt a sense of healing wash over her, not like medicine, she just felt like she could drop her shoulders down and relax for a minute.

"Wait, how did you know I was in a plane crash?"

For once, Theo felt better knowing that someone wasn't seeing his face, because his eyes widened. "Colonel Phillips had to converse with the Royal Air Force, and they gave me the papers. I do a lot of the... deliveries?" He lied for once. They hated it, but the world wasn't ready for the truth yet. "Oh, and Captain Rogers was also in a plane crash."

Before Alyssa could question that, Theo had left the room without saying another word, confusing her even more.

I want everyone to know that Theo is a large ray of sunshine, and really has to be protected at all costs
