EPILOGUE
It's Just Another WarAlyssa watched from afar, proud of Astria's training. Of course, she didn't want her own kid to be fighting or knowing one too many techniques of killing someone, but if she thought of it from a safety and defense view, she found it a little more understanding.
Astria was only six and shooting precisely at targets, it shocked the very few S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents that would pass by.
It did take time for her to come to terms with the possibility of Steve being alive, just in an ice block. Peggy was still an agent, which wasn't much of a surprise, but still.
Astria continued pulling the trigger, to her, it was oddly satisfying. Not that killing things brought immediate joy (unless the person was a dick, then she'd celebrate), but it felt good to release a cascade of emotions.
She learnt to test out different kinds of weapons and fighting skills that could be more useful in comparison to a gun. But if she had to pick so far, if she had to pick a weapon of choice, it was a pistol. Once in a while, Astria would put a blindfold on to practice shooting without full sight. And if she did become a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent, it would be a good skill to have picked up from a young age.
Astria stopped when the bullets ran out, and set it aside with safety on. She tucked the gun into the back of her shirt and her jeans.
She walked ahead of Alyssa due to her inability to walk slowly. Alyssa watched as she practically sprinted ahead, she saw the fire in Astria's eyes whenever she held a gun in her small hands. Alyssa didn't want to see her daughter fighting in a war, but that was life, there would always be a war.
Did Alyssa ever think that a one-night stand could make her care about the world more? No. No, she didn't.
But that also made her hate the world for the evil within its grasp, yes, she understood the universe needed balance, but when the evil was getting too strong, that's when she started questioning why.
Astria questioned a lot of things. She questioned the existence of humans, why there was always a dull look in her mother's eyes, even when she tried to cover it up, and there were other things too, those were just on the priority list. Astria never understood why the universe worked in certain ways, why the world couldn't be fair.
She just wanted to know why. While Alyssa didn't care about questioning things, to the point where there was deep realisation, Astria yearned for it. Astria wanted to know more about the world, maybe she'd regret it, maybe she wouldn't, but at least she'd know. That's all she really wanted in her life, and to make her mother proud, even though Astria knew her mum was already proud of her, she needed that boost of pride.
Alyssa took her jacket and hung it up in the closet, glancing at Astria for a second. "You'll do great things, I know you will."
Despite Astria only being six years old, she understood what her mum was telling her. And so she would live on, continuing to prove assholes wrong, because she was her mother's daughter.
Astria is her mother's daughter, and we love it
Alyssa might not show emotions often, but she is very proud of Astria (and displays it)
Okay, bye!
