CHAPTER FOURTEEN: Gossip And The New Neighbour

  Lily ran to her office, she didn't want to be late. She ran past the security as she inserted her worker's ID, the doors opened and she ran to her office.

  Genevieve was busy sorting files when Anne stood up from her seat and walked towards her. "Gene darling you wouldn't believe what am about to tell you, you just wouldn't believe." Genevieve stared at Anne through the rim of her glasses, she knew that Anne was about to say something that will cause everyone to start arguing, another day of gossiping. She didn't know how her fellow female colleagues find it quite easy to gossip, as though they had nothing to do. But she had things to do.

   Just as she was contemplating on what to do Lily ran straight past her to her desk. Lily of course was one of the serious walkers in the office. Their office was a department known as the A-department . They specialized in paperwork, bringing new ideas for products etc, but one thing was this, their department was known for gossiping.  Lily was one of the serious workers in their department, but she was also the most naive person Genevieve had ever seen. Lily was so simple minded, other workers when the end of the day comes, they will stop working. Those workers who hadn't finished their paperwork will give it to Lily and she will accept it. Thus, this allows her to close very late. While others had gone home for the day Lily will still be at work completing the work they should have done. Well, Genevieve didn't bother about Lily. So whatever she did or whatever happens to her she didn't care, she also should try coming early, she thought.

  She knew that Anne wasn't going to leave easily, she'd have to look for a way to get rid of her. Anne a lady who always love to chat, she had a blonde-black hair which she made into a ponytail. Today she wore a grey blazer and a black Victoria Beckham wool-blend midi skirt and also a pair of slingback heels.

  "Gene darling, am sure you know the latest news in the company, don't you?" she said. Genevieve continued with her work she wouldn't let Anne distract her, "i certainly have no clue as to what you're saying" she continued typing.

  Anne stared at Genevieve in disbelief,"What did you say?,what hole have you been living under" she piped.

  "If you've got nothing of any importance to say, you can go. As you can see am quite busy"Gene said.

   "Hmph" Anne left Genevieve and went to talk to Sandra. Sandra , a lady from Ghana who loves to eat every 30 minutes. There isn't a time when you wouldn't see her eating. Sandra's a plumpy dark woman, her hair is usually plaited and she also loves to wear different outfits. Genevieve wasn't sure how this woman can talk for hours, once she starts she will never stop.

  "Did you hear that the late Chairman's daughter has returned" Anne asked Sandra.

   "Of course, everyone knows" Sandra replied.

   Lily stared at Anne and Sandra, she couldn't believe that people could talk nonstop without even taking a break. Sandra and Anne were talking about the heiress of W.E.L as though she were an object of mockery. Lily continued with her work, she didn't care if they gossiped after all. If the heiress hears of how they gossip about her, wouldn't they be fired?. 

   "Lily could you please help me sort out these files, I'm so tired I need rest" a lady called Cleopatra said. She dumps the files on Lily's desk, a man walked to Lily's desk and threw his files on Lily's desk and said "Lily sort it". Suddenly three more workers came and they dump the files on Lily's desk. Then a worker came by and said "Lily when you're done, buy me a lunch. Here's the money" the workers were about to leave Lily's desk when she shouted "STOP!!!".
