"She..." Sam spoke in utter horror, "She won."
A familiar figure graced my eyes. Jared was back.
"LET ME SEE HIM!" Chaos shouted.
"Absolutely not." A boy with reddish blackish hair spoke resolutely. "You made Mio's death pointless you bitch. Like you even DESERVE to see him."
"ACHOS MOVE!"
"It's alright Achos, let her through." Jared's voice cut through the screaming voices.
"I- you sure?"
"Totally, I got some shit to sort out with her."
Achos stepped to the side as Chaos rushed over to Jared. She went to hug him but Jared warped back.
"Chaos, I told you my plan, I told you everything that we needed to succeed, and yet still, STILL, you pushed forward with your own goals. What part of "follow the plan," do you not understand?"
"Big brother, I'm sorry it's jus-"
"Your needs are more important than everyone else's?"
"No, I ju-"
"So now you're lying?"
"NO! It's just that nothing else matters in this world but you!"
"So because I helped you, I'm automatically more important than the 120,000 people you killed?"
"Yes!"
"Wrong, Chaos, the more you sacrifice, the more of yourself you lose. You sacrificed the old Chaos I once knew to bring me back knowing full well that I had a plan to come back. I have never been so ashamed to call someone my family in my life."
Tears formed in Chaos's eyes. Despite everything she did, the one person she did them for didn't see her actions as good, much rather he saw them as vile and hateful.
"Jared," I called out, "how are you back?"
"Chaos duped us. The entire machine she created to revive me was placed elsewhere in her realm. We used everything we had for nothing."
"Big Brother I'm sorry!" Chaos cried.
"It doesn't matter what you are, it just matters that now everything Mio did for us ended."
"ATTENTION AGELOID MODELS DELTA, EPSILON, IOTA, GAMMA, ZETA, SIGMA, AND INDIVIDUALS BLACK AND SAM FUJITORA, YOU HAVE BEEN SEEN BY THE INTERNATIONAL ALLIANCE OF EARTH OR IAOE AS HIGH PRIORITY TARGETS. YOU WILL BE BOMBARDED BY SEVERAL HUNDREDS OF NUCLEAR MISSILES SHOULD YOU REFUSE TO GIVE UP WILLINGLY." A loudspeaker from a drone shouted.
"Trex," Jared muttered under his breath.
"Wait, the bitch who was Grant's dad?"
"Yeah, if he's here, this is bad. Remnant of Reality was shielding the city from otherworld invaders, but since Chaos tore the shield down, Allistar can invade at any second. Similarly, because I can't go 100%, I can't kill Allistar either."
"So do we have a plan?" A different voice asked.
"Yeah, give me 20 seconds. In the meantime, everyone introduce yourselves, we're all on the same side, it's best we learn to coordinate."
A girl in red and gold stepped forward.
"Type Iota, Cherish."
Then a boy in gold and black followed her lead.
"Type Zeta, Matthew, pleasure to meet you again, Black.
The dual red and black head stood up.
"Type Sigma, Achos unit, when all this ends, wanna play another round of dodgeball?"
"Why the hell not," I said exasperated, "but we gotta deal with a lot of shit."
"Damn straight," Achos smirked, holding out his hand for a handshake.
A boy in pulsing dark green scales, and neon blue stood forward.
"Type Gamma, Damon."
Next it was Sam's introduction.
"Former god of the world, call me Sam Fujitora."
"And I'm," I began, "Black, Black Uesugi."
A familiar enemy stepped forward, pink blade at his side and yellow lights clutching to his gray armor.
"Type Sampi, Kianu."
"You? How did you come back!" I shouted at him.
"I revive every January 28th if I've died."
"Bitch," I flipped him off.
He smiled and then gave me the bird too.
Jared used his arm to motion over to the crying Chaos.
"That's my sister, Type Epsilon, Chaos, as for me," He pointed to himself, cracking a sly smirk, "Type Delta, Jared."
"So then Jared," Achos smiled, "what's your master plan?"
"I broke it up into 3 main stages. The first, when Allistar arrives in approximately 2 hours, we take down his Ageloid soldiers, and then hit him as hard as possible. I'll let you know what stage 2 and 3 are when the time comes. For the meantime," Jared formed his blade, "we just chill." He laughed, grabbing a nuclear missile and flinging it to the sky, and then hitting it with a sever attack.
Several other large missiles began to fly around us. Every so often, one would angle itself to the ground, but the remainder would just float around. One launched in from our blind spot, and Iota, or Cherish instantly grabbed it and sent it straight into the air with one of the golden knives that were attached to her hip. Meanwhile, Damon projected a shield while Achos created several large spikes that lined the ground and pierced several of the missiles. Large shockwaves rang out, but we were all fine as long as we stood behind the shield. Wagging his finger, Matthew created a golden key, and summoned several holes. The missiles were sucked in, and from afar, the group saw several large explosions in the atmosphere above them.
"Damon, you can absorb all this radiation right?" Jared asked.
"Of course I can," Damon responded, flexing his arm.
Jared reached out his hand for a fist bump, and Damon took it, his blue energy engulfing Jared.
"Thanks man."
"Yeah no problem."
White armor formed around Jared, and black stripes began to line the middle points of his gear.
"Guess I gotta use it," Jared smirked.
As the armor slowly formed, Jared slammed to the ground, sending out golden waves through the land.
"Watch well Black, this is what it means to be origin class." He smirked, picking up the Remnant of Reality, and throwing it afar.
Several flying objects made their way towards us through the sky. They seemed to be human, for the most part, except they had cybernetic abilities. They slammed to the ground, and started rushing towards us.
"THIS IS THE WORLD'S COUNTERATTACK, FACE THE WRATH OF THE EARTH!" They shouted rushing at us.
I easily cut one down the middle with my fierce god slicer, all the while Achos and Kianu slashed at the lackluster army with their Katana's. Cherish shoved the large glaive on her back into the abdomen of one of the half machines, and Matthew bashed one to the ground with the large key he held. Jared held his hand to the sky, and the large glaive came back, and Damon continued to deal with the now dwindling numbers of nuclear weapons.
A large hail of gunfire rained down the sky as several hulking drop pods fell to the ground. Hundreds of the cybernetic humans poured out of the shell, and in an instant, they were upon us. Jared continued throwing his glaive in the same direction, all the while we dealt with the cybermen. Of course, they weren't a threat whatsoever, in fact they were more of an inconvenience if anything. We hack and slashed our way through the amassing horde of supersoldiers, leaving the ground crimson red with their blood.
From the smoke in the city, a large almost moon sized ship burst into sight. It seemed as if it took nearly the whole world's metal supply as it rained down bullets and missiles, all the while deploying several large drop pods. For every inch it flew it let off a loud "whirring," sound. Several holes lined its exterior thanks to Jareds glaive, but the onslaught didn't want to cease. Jared continued to fling his glaive at the ship using his right hand, but with his left he seamlessly cut apart the mass of robotic humans. Cherish and Damon both held up a shield to protect the group from the gunfire, while large blades erupted from the ground, anchoring the ship in place, and piercing its thrusters.
"Take it down!" Chaos shouted, getting a hold of her emotions.
We pushed forward, disassembling the numerous hordes of robots that swarmed us. Arms, legs, torsos, heads, blood, everything flew apart around us. The ship continued to fire its hellstorm of projectiles, but in no time at all we had all climbed the blades Chaos had formed for us, and entered the ship. Splitting up, we rushed down the hallways, tearing apart any and every valuable thing we saw. I rushed to the top deck to see if I could find that trex bastard, but to my luck, he was already preparing to enter the bowels of the ship in order to stop the boarding party.
"HEY!" I shouted, "GAMBLING BITCH."
Trex looked at me, and then cocked a wry smile.
"If it isn't the one who always fails." He slammed his glaive into the wall, with me narrowly avoiding it. "You ready for round two?"
I formed a glaive using both Ice and ki, and thrust it into his abdomen. Trex dodged back, avoiding my attack, and then recalled his glaive, whirling it around, and then slamming it into the ground causing several large lottery tables to pop up from the narrow corridor floor. I jumped over the wave of tables, and then threw my glaive at him. He spun his glaive around to block, tearing up the hallway around him, and then shoved his glaive forward. I dove downward, formed a new glaive, and shoved it into his leg. He flinched, taking a couple steps back, and I went in for a heavy thrusting move. He stumbled back a bit more, but fired off several large roulette circles at me. I spun my glaive to block, and then threw my glaive at him while he was mid attack. It slammed into his chest, causing him to change his tactics. He blasted a hole in the side of the aircraft, and then walked out onto the wing of the massive airship. He pulled the glaive embedded in his chest out, and then waved his glaive around rapidly.
I followed him out to the wing, and was met by a large dice crashing down. I slid, and lay down while the dice bounced over the wing, narrowly avoiding my head being taken off by one of the falling dice. Trex rushed forward, his glaive clearing the path of him. I brought my glaive up, flinching his attack, and then swung my glaive around into his ankle. He jumped back, gripping his ankle in pain, and then slammed his glaive into the ground, causing a large wave of tables to arise once more. I jumped over the onslaught, and then slammed my newly formed glaive into the ground, creating a large wave of ice spikes. Trex jumped up, attempting to avoid the large wave, but he was quickly pierced by my glaive, and he collapsed to the ground, clutching his chest in pain.
"If this is what you want to do, then so be it." Trex muttered, his body encasing itself in a large crystalline substance.
I rushed forward in an effort to break the hard exterior, but it proved meaningless as my glaive shattered upon impact with his prison.
"It's no use Black," Trex called out from inside, "my job is to stall Jared's power pieces, as long as you're here I complete my task successfully."
"Then I won't be here much longer."
I rushed to the weld between the wing and the ship, and began to cut it apart with my slicer. Trex watched, but still did nothing. Moments away from severing the wing apart, Trex burst from the crystal, his former business suit now armored in the same crystal he had formed around himself.
Trex rushed at me as soon as I finished cutting. I quickly jumped to the deck of the ship, and readied my glaive. Trex followed me atop the ship, and readied his weapon.
"This is for everyone, for Nino who didn't deserve her torment, for Miku who didn't deserve her demise, for Itsuki who didn't deserve her capture, for Yotsuba who didn't deserve to watch her sisters suffer, and for Ichika who shouldn't have to fill in the surrogate mother role."
Trex jumped forward, slamming his glaive into the ground. I parried his attack with my glaive, and then went in for a pierce attack. Trex spun his glaive wildly, and then jumped back, both parrying me, and distancing himself from me. Trex launched a large red and white beam at me, but I narrowly avoided the attack by rolling behind a jutting piece of debris. Several of the cyborgs that were manning the ship focused their attention on me, but they stood little chance. It didn't even take a fight to end a large number of the fake humans.
Jared rushed through the door behind Trex. he sprinted toward the center console, and then pulled the altitude control towards him. The ship began to descend, tilting my clash against Trex in a different angle as he stood above me. The nose of the ship pointed downward as both he and I drifted back. Jared readied the remnant of reality and flung it at Trex. Trex narrowly avoided it, but a blue aura drifted from the glaive to his body. Trex collapsed to the ground, leaving me an opening, all the while Jared rushed off to someplace else, but before he left he passed me a thumbs up and a smile.
I rushed towards the fallen Trex, and slammed my glaive into his head. Trex rolled back, blood bursting from the open head injury. Slowly, he planted his glaive into the ground and stood up, coughing blueish blood, and bleeding from the large hole through his forehead.
"I've had enough of this Black. The people you fight to protect are evil. You are evil. Will you not just let me purge the pathetic world you curate?"
"What decides what is good and evil?"
"It's obvious, it's governing laws and docu-"
"Wrong." I spoke harshly, "it's the victor. Meaning that whoever kills the other first in this fight dictates who is right and who is wrong."
"Pathetic boy. You dare lecture me on right and wrong? I will ensure that your punishment is permanent."
Trex launched forward, remarkably able to wield a hulking glaive and continue to move. However after avoiding his attack, I realized that while his front seemed powerful, he was getting sluggish. Lack of blood and whatever Jared had done to him with that blue energy. Trex narrowly dodged a thrust to his head, and then collapsed down to the ground. I jumped forward to slam my glaive into his back, but Trex dove forward, and then thrust his straight through my abdomen.
"Before you die," Trex panted, out of breath, "how did you come back?"
"I made a deal, a part of me," I smirked, charging up my new power, "for a second chance."
Trex realized my plan was to lure him in close, and quickly attempted to pull the glaive from my body. It was too late however. A blinding white light encompassed his glaive, and it slowly wormed its way up to his right hand. Trex struggled to escape the assault, but all he could do was delay the inevitable.
"Consider it a parting gift, from Daniel. My depression, for a second chance." I smirked letting off a burst of pure white energy.
When the light cleared, the top half of Trex's glaive was gone, so was his right hand, and some amount of his forearm too. Trex jumped back, looking down at his ruined appendage, and his ruined weapon before he bent down with his left, and reacquired the glaive.
"Ageloid Praetor Access: Luck's End!" He shouted in a final gambit.
Instantly I felt a pounding in my chest, yet another heart attack had struck me. I collapsed to the ground in pain before a different voice called out.
"ORIGIN CLASS: DIVINE GRACE!"
Instantly I stood up, uninjured. Trex stared awestruck at the sequence of events. Somehow, against all odds I had overcome his trump card. Jared strolled forward from the back of the room, spinning Remnant of Reality in his hand as a blue aura pulsed from him to the ground.
"It's over Trex, that's your counterattack finished." He exclaimed.
"As if. If you weren't Allistar's son, you'd be dead too."
"Please, you got this far thanks to your pathetic groveling below Allistar. "Oh my lord, please allow me to execute your every whim," if you thought you were strong, think again."
I looked to Jared who pointed the hilt of his glaive at Trex.
"Any last words?"
A golden portal cut through the scene. Trex was dragged into the hole while we were left holding our guard.
"Y'know Jared," I began, "it seems like he wasn't quite dead."
"Yeah, unfortunately, too bad my old partner had to stop our fun."
Jared's finger soon went to his ear as he asked some sort of communication channel what their statuses were. From afar I could hear the low chatter of several voices reporting back to him.
"Barracks all clear," Kianu mused.
"Engine is primed for detonation," Cherish answered.
"Trex is defeated," Jared voiced in exchange.
"Weapons are defused," Damon spoke.
"Who's with Sam?" Jared asked the group.
"Me," Achos chimed, "we just finished ground control."
"Are you with Black?" Matthew in return asked.
"Yeah, we took out trex, and the ship is headed straight down. Try to save any survivors you see before we blow this thing."
Jared and I marched our way utop the ship, and we stared down at the desolate city below. Half of the city was completely gone, leveled by a massive crater, while another half of the city had no remaining buildings leveled by the battle. A sole pitch black tower stood at the center of the city. I narrowed my eyes and saw Itsuki. Instantly I jumped down from the ship, and flung myself to her, clutching her in a hug which she eagerly returned.
"You're alive Black!" She shouted excitedly.
"When wasn't I?" I responded sarcastically.
"Well, those strange people said you weren't, so I just figured that you had died in battle."
"They aren't wrong, but what's important is that I'm back. Now, let's get you back to your sisters."
I quickly located the other three quintuplets, and then brought the red head to the trio. Instantly, both of us were met with a hearty embrace from the remaining girls before Ichika grimaced.
"Chaos took Miku, I don't know where, but you have to find her Black!" Ichika shouted out of fear.
"Of course..." I muttered, debating whether or not the truth was needed.
"Black?" A familiar voice from afar chimed in happily.
I looked off to see Isanari, he cheerfully ran to me, Raia at his side before grasping me in a hug.
"Glad to see you alive," He spoke cheerfully.
"Likewise," I hugged back.
"Black, did you do it, did you stop her?" Raia hopefully asked.
A pair of tears streamed down my face.
"Yeah, I did it Raia." I smiled reassuringly, "now, let me go get Miku back, I popped a coy smile to the group."
The girls all had tears in their eyes and smiles on their faces seeing their hero back. I couldn't help but wonder though, how long would that last? Sure I had managed to protect them through Jared's assault on the city, but now, I had failed to protect them. Would they still want me there for them, even if I had failed not once, but twice? My mind wandered to what Trex had said earlier. Their father had offered to sell them all off, and Nino had known. I didn't want to believe it, but Trex had the evidence, he had the words, and he had the actions.
Yotsuba was the first to chime up.
"Is everything alright Black? You look... conflicted."
"Oh- yeah, just thinking about something." I responded distractedly.
"Would you tell us if something was wrong?" Ichika spoke up.
I looked her in the eyes, cocked a smirk, and said a simple, "Hell yeah." before setting off to retrieve Miku's body.
I returned near the outskirts of the city, Miku's lifeless body lay there, undisturbed, utop a pile of rubble from the nearby buildings.
"Hey Daniel, I'm sorry again. I failed twice now, I hope you can forgive me wherever you are."
I picked up her body, and flew off to the Nakano sisters, all of which burst into streaming tears at the sight of their sister's passing. I placed the body in front of them, looking down the whole time, and then walked off back to the ruined city. Before I made it too far though, Ichika called out from afar.
"I don't blame you! I don't think anyone here does!"
I looked back to her, cocking a smile, and wiping the tears off my face. But this wasn't the end, I had one final thing to accomplish.
