knock knock knock

michael jumped at the noise, only just waking up. stumbling out of bed in only his boxers, he made his way to the door.

it was only nine am, who is this person to wake him up before ten thirty?

"what do you want?" he mumbled once he opened the door, running his tired eyes.

"i want to apologize for everything" the boy responded, and michael's head snapped up.

"calum?" you could hear the raw hurt in his voice as he thought back to the note still sitting on his living room couch.

now, the homeless boy looked fresh from a magazine, clean black ripped skinny jeans and a grey bad suns t-shirt, black vans on his feet and his hair messy but clean.

this was a homeless person.

this wasn't a homeless person in front of him.

"can i please come in? we need to talk" he rubbed his wrist anxiously.

part of michael didn't want calum to come in. he wanted the boy to face rejection and get hurt the same way he did, and leave feeling absolutely hopeless and broken. he wanted calum to break down and sob the same way that michael did.

he wanted calum to feel his pain.

but he couldn't do that.
