"Are you okay, honey? Do you need anything?" my aunt Kenna asks as she leads the way to Astra's rooms. I shake my head and pull my suit cases behind me.
"Nope. I'm fine," I tell her. She smiles and turns Astra's doorknob. The door falls open wide enough to see Astra slumped over in a really unladylike position watching her television. She keeps her attention on the TV, ignoring us.
"Well, go on in," Aunt Kenna says. I smile at her and walk into the bedroom. As the door closes behind me, Astra turns her head to look at me.
"Sup?" she questions with a slight nod. I smile and put my suit cases in the corner of her room. I look around the room. Astra's bedroom is unlike all the one in the palace, which makes it strange to me. Instead of neutral toned walls, her are a bright pink color and she has a pink and white zebra bedspread in comparison to the bland ones at the palace. Plus, her floor is covered in clothes, books, and other random items that would never happen in my home. To sum it up: Astra has the bedroom of a regular teenager.
"Nothing really. Just hanging out," I tell her. She offers me a smile and nods to a chair piled up with shopping bags. Assuming she is telling me to sit, I push the bags into the floor and sit down. We're quiet for a few minutes before I build up the nerve to say, "Don't you have a maid or something?" She nods.
"Yeah. I just don't let her in my room. My stuff is privet and I don't want her going through it," she says. I nod and try to position myself in comfortably in the chair.
"So, what are you watching?" I ask, looking at the television screen. She shrugs. It's a movie I'm unfamiliar with. While we get a lot of new releases, we don't have this one.
"I'm not sure. The other day Emily had the TV on this channel so when I turned it on this was on and I was too lazy to change the channel so I just left it on," she says. I smile and nod.
"Oh. Is it any good?" I ask.
"Not really," she replies. I bite my lips and nod.
"Oh. Okay," I say. She nods and we're quiet again until the credits start rolling. She flops around on the couch so that she;s facing me. She keeps an intense stare on me for a few minutes before I ask, "What are you doing?" She shrugs.
"I'm trying to read your mind. Some girl at school said that if I stare at you long enough you will be able to tell what that person is thinking," she says. I scrunch my eyebrows together.
"And you actually believed her?" I ask. Astra nods a couple times and shrugs.
"Yeah. Why not?" she asks.
"Because hypnotism and mind reading doesn't exactly exist. Astra, what are they teaching you at your school? I thought you and Emily went to some expensive, super exclusive school," I say.
"We do. But that doesn't prove anything," Astra says. She sticks out her tongue at me. I shake my head.
"Astra, you are absolutely clueless," I say. She nods.
"That I am. . . So, whatcha doing here?" she asks. I give her a confused look.
"I've already explained it to you. How much more do you need to know?" I ask. She shrugs and picks at her nails.
"Oh, I don't know. . . All the dirty little secrets," she says. Well, she says the first part. She demands the second. I roll my eyes and lay myself out on the couch in a dramatic way.
"Sorry. Can't tell you that. You might leak my secrets to the press," she says. She rolls her eyes.
"And you never thought about that with Kevin?" she asks. I give her a mean look.
"That was different," I tell her. She smiles at me.
"Oh, yes. Celia Ann Shreave Stephens, winning men's heart by telling them their family's biggest secrets," she says. I pick up at pillow next to me on the floor and throw it at her.
"Ow," she says as it hits her head and falls back into the floor.
"Is someone hurting Astra without me?" Emily says as she pushes open the door. I roll my eyes.
"Sorry. I forgot we planned to take her down later," I tell Emily. Emily giggles and nods.
"Well now she knows too much. Maybe we could do it now," Emily responds. I nod and giggle.
"What are you talking about?" Astra asks. I shrug.
"Your murder," I simply reply. She nods and gives me a big smile.
"Oh. Okay," she says. Emily and I stare shocked at her. Slowly, her smile falls. "Wait a minute!"
"Let our month long sleep over begin!" Emily declares. I roll my eyes. Of course this is who the good lord above gave me as cousins.
This was not the most interesting chapter and I got bored writing it... There will only be a few more like this... WAIT WHAT???? Haha. Y'all don't even know. :D Comment and vote!
