I flip a page of my book and glance up at the clock for about the fifteen time in the last few minutes. I look back down at my book and after reading a few more sentences I glance at the clock again. I moan and close the book after, knowing it's pointless to try to read when I'm distracted, especially if I won't remember what I just read. I stand up and begin pacing the floor behind the couches of the lady's room.
It's been too long. They should have called by now. Flynn and my father both promised they would have contact with us within three days of them leaving. The three days are almost up. Dinner starts in an hour and a half. In an attempt to distract myself, I leave the lady's room, walk down silent hallways, and up numerous stair cases to my bedroom where my maids, Rebecca and Julia, are cleaning our bedroom.
"Princess Celia! We weren't expecting you for a while!" Julia says when she see me. They both curtsy, a habit I tried to rid them of years ago with no success.
"Oh, um, I've just been a but distracted. I was hoping I could go ahead and begin getting ready for dinner," I explain. They both nod and walk me into the bathroom. They talk eagerly about the drama of maids and butlers and kitchen staff as they coat my face with layers of makeup and put my hair in ringlets. I sit quietly at the vanity and only stand up to move when they tell me it's time for me to put on my dress.
All three of us walk over to the wardrobe. Rebecca opens the door to reveal both and my's fancier clothes that is only used for dinner. Flynn's sent radiates from the open doors and almost seems to paralyze me as my maids dig through all the different dresses. They finally pull out a navy blue dress. I step in it and they zip up the dress. I slide my feet into a pair of silver heels before leaving them to walk down to the dining room.
My final few inches of hope come when I see my mother talking to one of the dining room guards. I can't help but hope that they have heard news, but the look on my mother's face causes the hope to shatter into a thousand little pieces. I sit down between my my brother and Quinn and watch the conversation with close attention. My mother finally nods and turns away to take her seat across from my brother.
When she sees the similar looks on all of our faces she shakes her head. There is little conversation as we all eat the meal brought to us. No one can stand the thoughts of our loved ones being missing. My father was probably right, it was a bad idea.
As I stand up to leave the dining room, the doors burst open. Marlee comes in panting with a letter in her hands. My mother automatically takes it from her, ignoring her best friend's condition. My mother scans over the piece of paper and smiles when she looks up at me.
"They're safe," she says.
This chapter is kind of like a filler chapter. I was trying to update quick so I had to work on this at school. I will try to write another chapter tomorrow so you know what happened in New Asia. Sorry that this is short with bad editing. Like I said, this was wrote at school and I have like four minutes until class starts. Please comment and vote!
