"Now, Mrs. Stephens, do you have any last words to say during your final moments with your cast?" Flynn asks, mimicking the voice of a game show host. He picks up a hairbrush from my vanity and quickly walks over to me at our small table. He holds in my face as if it were a microphone.
"Well, Flynn, if I had to say one thing to the cast it would be this: Goodbye you giant piece of cement who has hitched a ride on my foot for the last two months!" I say. He chuckles and puts the hairbrush down and sits across from me.
"Are you ready to go down?" he asks. I scribble down one final note on the papers in front of me then nod.
"I'm ready." He hands me my crutches and we begin to walk silently down to the medical wing of the palace. The hallways we pass through seem to be full of life even when we are the only ones in them. They all contain colorful streamers and elaborate flower arrangements in honor of the upcoming holiday.
When we walk into the main room of the hospital, Doctor McAndrew looks at us with a confused face. He walks over to a filing cabinet and pulls at a folder, which is most likely my file.
"Celia, I'm not sure you should be back yet," he says. My eyes grow larger and I look over at Flynn next to me for guidance. The same expression that is most likely on my face is on his.
"Um, what do you mean?" I ask. He flips to a paper full of his messy handwriting and points at a date.
"This right here clearly says you are supposed to come next Friday," he says. The corners of his lips twitch. I move closer to him to see the date which is the same date as today.
"You are lying!" I announce. He chuckles and nods. I let out a sigh of relief, thankful I won't have to miss the Easter ball because of my fall.
"I was only kidding, Celia. I thought it would be fun to see you response to that," he says. Flynn puts his hand up and high fives Doctor McAndrew.
"Were you in on this too?" I ask my husband. He chuckles and shakes his head.
"No, but it was an excellent idea," he comments. I roll my eyes as Flynn and Doctor McAndrew laugh again.
"You know, it wouldn't have been so funny when you had to dance with some old lady who smells like prunes tomorrow night instead of with me," I say. He smiles and nods.
"True, but I will still have to dance with my mother," he says. All three of us laugh.
"You two ate definitely something," Doctor McAndrew says. Flynn slips his arm around me and nods.
"We definitely are," he says in a proud voice. No one says something in response. Doctor McAndrew scribbles down a few more notes on the pages from the folder.
"Okay, you guys can head into the x-ray room," he says. We nod and walk into the room. I sit on the table where Doctor McAndrew and his assistant put on the cast. Flynn sits next to me even though he'll have to move when Doctor McAndrew begins.
"You know what you need, right?" Flynn asks in a seductive whisper. I look over at him and grin.
"What is that I need?" I ask. He leans down so his forehead is on mine.
"I believe a good luck kiss would really help," he whispers, his breath ticking my nose. I giggle a little.
"Okay, I guess I could always ask Doctor McAndrew about that," I say. He gives me a slight shake of his head, managing to keep his forehead on mine the entire time.
"I don't think that'll work," he says before leaning down and kissing me. I kiss back and only stop when I hear someone whispering.
"Doctor McAndrew, come here!" the voice says. Flynn and I both look over at the door where a nurse is standing, motioning for the doctor to come over. "Um, never mind," she says when she sees up looking at her.
An awkward silence sets over us as the nurse walks in and sits down at the desk. She flips through a folder and pulls out a paper.
"So, how about that good luck kiss?" Flynn whispers in my ear. I giggle.
"I'm starting to think you're the one in need of the good luck kiss," I whisper. He chuckles and plants his lips on mine. We stay like this for a few minutes. I pull back, though, frightened that the nurse might be watching us again. As I guesses, she is. She shakes her head even though she is smiling.
"You two are too cute," she says. I blush and look down at the floor. I stay like that for a few minutes until the doctor comes in.
"So, I think we're ready," he announces. He walks over to the nurse and they look over a few papers, mumbling between them.
"Alright Princess Celia, we are going to begin just momentarily. Prince Flynn, you're going to have to get up," the nurse says. Flynn nods and stands up from the table. The doctor leaves the room and comes back a few minutes later with a tray full of supplies, half of which he most likely won't use.
"We're going to cut off the cast, then we'll take an x-ray, okay?" Doctor McAndrew states. I nod and he goes to work, cutting off the cast.
So, if it isn't obvious, I don't know how broken bones work. This is just a guess at how it might would happen... Only a week until The Heir, guys! Please please please comment and vote!
Disclaimer: Because I've been in this stalkers sh mood since Kiera Cass lives 3 hours away from me and I really want to camp out in her front yard, I'm pretty sure it's obvious I'm not her, which means I don't own The Selection.
