Mason's pov
The creature lets out a roar charging at me. I retrieve my sword. It swings at me a couple of times pushing me against the walls or crushing down on tables. Mithian tries giving a hand but ends up getting hit in the process. I remain on my feet fighting the Sizrath. We engage in a fight where I end up scratching its hind legs. Its demon face disappears showing that of Deirdre in pain and tears. She is trapped inside that thing. The demon was right killing it meant taking her life as well. I drop my sword deciding to use my fists instead. The creature lets out a shriek; I rush to it grabbing it by the throat as we fall onto my back. I tangle my legs with the creature's, just as its entire form is come up, hastily placing the collar around its neck. The creature wriggles tossing itself around trying to break the chain till it disappears behind a pillar. Human sobbing follows up. In slow stealthy paces, I approach the pillar to find her hugging her legs. I take one of Enmyria's cloaks and place it on her naked body.
"You should have me executed." The words fall from her mouth. I feel sad for her she must be feeling terrible. I lift her into my arms taking her to her room after confirming Enmyria's fine and unwounded. Gerald would need to dress up the wound on her leg after I scratched it in the attack. I try consoling her to make her feel better my efforts are futile. She confesses how terrible she feels about her attempt on Enmyria's life examining her turned skin into a deep shade of red. The demon was lying about her having us dead this was proof beyond words. Her voice was full of anguish, and distress, name them. She showed remorse for the deeds done through her hand. I serve her some water.
Mithian walked in Gerald behind her. He engages in a physician and patient conversation truths emerging about the creature as he dresses her wounded leg. I watch them turn her back towards us. She is so keen on concealing the frontal side of her body with her hair and her robe clinging to her waist tightly. I could not help but involuntarily steal glances her way. She surprises me when she has me stay behind to keep the situation under control should it not work. She did care about the kingdom. She could not stand for what was evil. Gerald hands her a potion to sedate her. Gladly she takes it and lies down on her stomach. The effect of the potion takes place at once. Gerald takes his medicine bag and starts on his business. First, he cleans the slacking skin then takes a blade and delicately tears up her flesh. Mithian brings in a bowl of fresh water, and wipes of the black blood flowing out. Gerald uses a to keep the wound open as he plunges his fingers into her flesh making make a squishing sound. I turn away feigning. Argh! That's disturbing, being a physician does take all the guts in you to perform some task. He relaxes his hands catching his breath and almost giving up. He goes on to depend on the cut further. He heaves a sigh of relief asking Mithian to pass him his pair of tongs. He gets on to pick into something inside her slowly he pulls it one section after another not trying to force it out. It is long dark and flexible. As it left her body her skin cleared out to more human, the welts disappearing like they never existed. I thought it was only a spike inside her this was not. Gerald extracts a 'thing as long as my forearm.
"Prepare my needle and thread," Gerald tells Mithian as he takes it upon himself to discard it into the burning flames of the room's fireplace. A dark cloud appears before vapourising in thin air.
"that won't be necessary," I say. Gerald walks back to us to look at the amazing art we staring at. The torn skin slowly comes together healing up till no tear can be seen.
"Remarkable!" Gerald says amazed then keenly stares at the artful marking that shows up on her skin.
"What is this?" I ask.
"I don't think I am sure sire," he says. He reaches into his book takes out a small book and draws on it the marks. "I'll investigate we wouldn't want such surprises again." I nod in agreement. They tidy up the place. A fully covered Deirdre turns in her peaceful sleep. Gerald is in a hurry to leave us. I take advantage of the moment we are left alone to gather the truth.
