I could feel a charge tingling from inside my wits. Rapidly raising and traveling through every cell in my body. My eyes shut as I placed my concentration on what I was doing with the guidance of my subconscious. I could feel what I could describe as electric currents flowing from the tip of my toes surging through my veins, strong enough to throw me off balance their meeting point being at both my palms where they suddenly branch, spreading through my hand. I take a peek, feeling itchy, the good kind.
The sigil marking starts to glow, and similar markings carved themselves onto the back of my hands lighting up before a white light appears and engulfs my mother. This healing procedure makes me weak from using a lot of power to make her well. For a moment all was calm until I smelt an odd fungal-metallic scent, a warm fluid dripping from my nose followed. My muscles contracted. Gerald tried to caution me from my madness but I was in, all in, I could not stop halfway.
The book had given a precaution statement but I was ready to die as long as she lived. I heard my door open but my concentration remained intact as I did not turn to see who walked in. A deep gasp escaped from her mouth as her body arched before the candle went off her body relaxing. The light began dying down and just as my powers retreated. My body collapses on the bed from exhaustion, my only hope being it was all worth the risk.
"Here have this," King Hemsworth said handing me a cup of water and a piece of cloth. "That was extraordinary!" he exclaimed. I sat up and made the cloth wet so I could wipe off my bloody nose.
"And lethal," Gerald added examining me.
"I have had the wedding postponed for the sake of your mother and you too so she can get time to get better and walk you down the aisle. I'm sorry for what she went through. Mason told us everything. I have had the other guest room prepared for her."
"That is very kind of you, my lord," I said once Gerald was done making sure I was fine. All we had to do was wait now. I only hoped it worked.
"I'll leave you two to rest." with that he excused himself, so did Gerald.
I had forgotten to have the servants bring me something to eat. I stayed with my mother to keep a close eye on her in case she woke up as I tried to regain my strength. Looking at her lying there broke my heart, all I could think of was vengeance against Ronan.
The chirping of birds got me in the same position I was in all night watching over her. Using my fingers I trailed her face and stroked her hair which had reverted to its shiny black with strands of grey hair suited for her age. Her face was no longer pale but full of life, her cheeks k pink. My mouth found words of a lullaby mother always sang for me when I was young. I sang it sorrowfully, some words disappearing in my mouth as I sniffled. I was almost done when she uttered the last words with me. The words that followed got stuck in my throat. As I gasped and blinked at mother astounded. Did she just?
"MOTHER!" I said out of breath.
"My torture ...in this house.... is making me.... delusional. End my misery, Ronan," she struggled to speak her eyes still shut.
"GUARDS! GUARDS!" I yelled out, my gaze at the door. My call was immediately answered as two guards walked inside the chambers.
"Go summon the royal physician and have food and water brought immediately," I commanded.
"I can still hear her voice, I want my daughter, Ronan," my mother pleaded breathlessly.
"I am here mother, I'm here with you," I sobbed. "I'm never going away again I'm here to stay, to take care of you," I watched her lids flutter open. She squinted her eyes from bright light exposure.
"Ta...t...Taliyah is that really you?" Her hands connect with my cheek. I nod tears streaming down my face, "I must be dreaming,"
"Mother it is I," I assure her. Just then Gerald storms in carrying his bag, his apprentice Mark, jogging behind him.
