Jiriya's Last Student (Naruto Fanfic)

CHAPTER EIGHT

"A Hyuuga wearing the Uchiha crest? What?"

"That little girl is of the famed Byakugan clan, why is she wearing the crest that belongs to the Sharingan?"

Sasuke wraps his arm around Masuragi, "This is the final exam before the last rounds of fights, ok? You got this." He mutters before ruffling the girls hair, making her smile brightly. Naruto (in disguise) narrows his eyes at the interaction between Sasuke and Masuragi. If Naruto was being honest, the interaction between the two, even with Sasuke still being a stuck up prick, was pure. He couldn't describe it.

Sasuke was treating Masuragi as if that was his child.

"All right! This is a test of strength. This boulder right here is practically indestructible. If you can make a crack in this boulder, you pass to the final fight. If you don't, you don't pass." Fox states. The genin swallowed hard, knowing that the mystery man was dead serious.

Many genin lost, broke their hands and didn't even manage to scratch the boulders. The next genin to go up was Minoru. He took a deep breath and fell into an unknown stance to most. His right leg in front of his left, his knees were bent and he had one hand slightly in front of the other, his body twisted slightly. He took another deep breath and in the blink of an eye, he struck the boulder with his middle and ring finger.

A few seconds passed and then all of a sudden, the boulder blasted into pieces, shocking everyone. Minoru smirks and looks back at Masuragi who was staring at him in awe. This made a little bit of pride swell in his chest, but when he looked back at Katsujima, the pride swelled even more as he noticed her slightly smile. He walked back to his last teammate, almost shocked when he felt Katsujima wrap her arm around him, "You did good." She whispers making his face flush.

"Katsujima Subaku." Fox calls out as another boulder was in the place of the one Minoru destroyed. Katsujima huffs and before anyone could even comprehend, the boulder was smashed to pieces once again. Only the skilled ninja could see how fast she went up there and punched the boulder. Once again, Masuragi was in awe. There were really people that strong in this competition.

Expected from the Kazekages kids,

"Masuragi Hyuuga."

Gasps were heard from the people who didn't know the Leaf ninja was related to the Hyuuga,

"Hyuuga?? That's the Uchiha crest on her back though!"

"Her sensei is THE Sasuke Uchiha so maybe he's taken a liking to the girl."

Masuragi glances up at her father timidly. Sasuke nods with a soft smile. Fox watches the interaction intensely. Masuragi sighs before discreetly disabling her resistance seal. Masuragi slowly cocked back her arm and with speed only high jonin and kages could see, she buried her fist into the boulder. The boulder smashed into almost nothing. The crowd's jaws dropped.

Minoru let out a surprised gasp and Katsujima just let a sadistic smirk appear on her face. Naruto and Gaara noticed this and felt a sense of déjà vu wash over them. Masuragi had a hard glare on her face as the boulder exploded. Naruto let a wide grin spread across his face at the show of power from Masuragi.

Masuragi sat at a ramen stand with Hinata and Sasuke. Hinata giggles softly as she watch Masuragi slurp down her 15th bowl of ramen. Sasuke shakes his head, "This kid has an endless pit for a stomach like a damn Uzumaki, Nata..." He says. Hinata shakes her head, "Let Masu eat, Sasu-kun." She says, hitting his shoulder. Sasuke let a rare smile form on his face. His best friend and his daughter, they were one happy family. A little dysfunctional, but happy. Just then, the Kazekage, Fox, and the Kazekage's two children and teammate walked into the booth. Masuragi grins widely, "Hi, Rajin-kun!" She greets happily. Rajin grins just as wide, "Masu-chan! Hey!" He greets back, wrapping one arm around the short girl, "Uchiha-San, Hyuuga-San." He greeted respectfully with a little distaste in his tone.

Fox pats Masuragi's head affectionately, "Good show you put on yesterday, Masu-San. Are you ready for the finals?" He asks. Sasuke narrows his eyes. The masked man's aura seemed familiar, but he couldn't put his finger on it. Sasuke looks over at Hinata, noticing how she furrowed her eyebrows but then suddenly went wide eyed. Masuragi nods, "Yes sir. I have no doubt that I'm going to walk out a chunnin! Another bowl of ramen please, Mr. Kono!" She says.

Kono laughs, "Kid, this is your 16th bowl!" He laughs heartily before working on her bowl. Gaara flashes a side smile, "You have an Uzumaki stomach." He says. Masuragi laughs, "Kashi-sensei tells me that all the time! He tells I remind him of his old student." She says. Minoru hums, "So, the Hokage is your sensei aswell?" He asks lowly. Masuragi nods, "He, Sasu-sensei and my Kaa-chan took me under their wing and trained me!" She says, hugging Sasuke making him smirk and ruffle her hair.

Gaara hums, "I never would have thought you would take on a student, Sasuke-San. Unusual considering you and Hinata never talked that much." Sasuke tightened his grip on Masuragi, "Masuragi had potential, Kazekage-sama... potential to become a great shinobi AND future Hokage... and I will keep the seat warm for her..." He says with a smirk. Fox felt his whole body stiffen, 'Of course. Kakashi always favored Sasuke so of course he'd give Sasuke the hat...' He mentally growled.

Gaara leans back slightly, "Honestly, how the leaf village have fallen. Letting a traitor take the hat, letting you anywhere near kids and letting you roam free." Sasuke felt Masuragi's body tremble. Sasuke leaned down, "It's ok, Masu..." He whispers, "Respectfully, Kazekage-Sama, the leaf village's affairs have nothing to do with you. We are not allied anymore." Sasuke says, keeping his cool. He loosened up a bit as he felt Hinata's hand on his shoulder. Gaara scoffs, "You and your pathetic village can burn for all I car-"

A kunai almost imbedded itself into the Kazekage's head if it wasn't for Katsujima who stepped in with a hard glare. Masuragi stood in front of her mother and father with her Byakugan active in her right eye, "I heard enough!" Masuragi snaps, "I refuse to let you bad mouth MY village... and my sensei... I don't give a damn WHAT he did before I was born, you bad mouth my village and him... I'll kill you." She says with a crazed look in her eye.

Almost similar to a jinchuriki.

Sasuke slaps Masuragi, making the whole stand go quiet. It took a minute for the young girl to process it, but when she did she felt a few tears well up in her eye as her Byakugan deactivated, "Sasuke!" Hinata shouts angrily. Sasuke grabs Masuragi's chin and forced her to look at him. He stared into the 13 year old's eye with his Sharingan activated, "That... was no way to speak to a Kage, Masu." He says sternly. His heart ached slightly when he sees tears fall down his daughter's face, "You understand that right?" No answer, "ANSWER ME!" Sasuke shouted in her face.

Masuragi nods, "Yes sir." She says in a quiet voice, "B-But-" "I don't want to hear it, Masuragi. Apologize." Sasuke says, deactivating his Sharingan. Masuragi turns towards Gaara and bows, "I apologize, Kazekage-sama..." She says bitterly before straightening up and walking out of the booth followed by Hinata who glared at Sasuke. Sasuke sneers before grabbing Masuragi a to-go bag, "I apologize for my degenerate student. She will be dealt with." He says to the family before walking out as well.

Rajin looks in the direction Masuragi walked off at, "He didn't have to hit Masuragi like that..." He says quietly, "She was just standing up for him a-and their village, did he not see that?" Rajin asks, "I would do the same." Fox hums, "You're right, Raj. But, threatening the life of a Kage is a serious offense and not one to be taken lightly. While Sasuke's motives were wrong, he would have gotten in trouble. A whole lot of trouble." He says. Minoru scoffs,

"I just feel like that's no way to hit your student, period." He says quietly. Katsujima nods, "While I don't appreciate the scum attacking my father, I would do the same if I was in her shoes... Except I wouldn't miss." She says with a slight scowl.
