13 | Fire

Komaeda came back to the dorm in the late evening. He was exhausted and wanted to go to bed as quickly as possible.

Once he got there, he changed his clothes and went to brush his teeth. Hinata wasn't in the dorm at that moment. A few minutes later, Komaeda finally went to bed.

Just as he was about to fall asleep, the door opened, letting the light from the hallway illuminate the room. The pale boy groaned, tired and annoyed.

"Mmh..." he opened his eyes again. Hinata had just gotten back. "Where were you?"

"I was hanging out with Izuru,"

Komaeda weakly nodded. "Okay." He yawned. "Good night..."

Hinata smiled. "Good night. Sorry for waking you up,"

"Oh, don't even try, Nanami-chan," Takahashi said. "You can't throw as far as the boys. Girls are naturally weak,"

"Be quiet." She said, grabbing one of the balls. "I can throw farther than you,"

"No, you can't!" He laughed.

"Stop laughing at me!" Nanami hissed and threw the ball. She did indeed throw farther than Takahashi.

"Wow, you're so strong!" Komaeda cheered.

"Damn, that was far." Takahashi put a hand to his chin. "Then you must be like Komaeda-chan, huh? But the other way around. You're actually a boy, hm?"

Nanami raised an eyebrow. "No, I'm not,"

"But you can't be a girl. Females are the weaker sex. It's just biology,"

She shrugged. "Maybe. But that doesn't mean a girl who works out is weaker than a boy who doesn't. Just accept that you're weak,"

"Yes!" Komaeda agreed. "A weak, pathetic, loser,"

"Shut up!" Takahashi grabbed him by the collar of his shirt. "I'm going to tell my dad about this! Quit acting all high and mighty. You're a girl and you always will be! And Nanami-kun will always be a boy!"

"I'm not even trans!" Nanami argued. "You're so dumb!" She grabbed his wrist and pulled his arm away from Komaeda.

Suddenly, an explosion could be heard. All the students looked at the school and saw the principal's office burning.

"Dad!" Takahashi screamed and began running towards the school. Nanami and Komaeda followed him.

"Takahashi-kun, don't! It's dangerous!" Komaeda called out. They followed him upstairs and in front of the office's door.

"Don't go in there!" Nanami told Takahashi. "I'm sure the whole room is burning!"

"But someone has to save my dad!"

"I bet the firefighters will be here soon!" She said.

Komaeda took a deep breath. "I'll do it! I don't want you to lose your father, so I'll help him!" Without wasting another second, he opened the door.
