"Komaeda-kun, don't!" Nanami shouted, but it was too late. He was already in the office.

The room wasn't burning completely. Some parts were still fine.

"Takahashi-sensei?" He called out. A drawer fell over and blocked the door. Komaeda gulped. "T-Takahashi-sensei!" His vision was starting to get blurry and the smoke made it hard to breathe.

"Taka... hashi... sen-" His own coughing interrupted him. "This was... a bad idea..."

Then, he felt someone's hands on his waist. "Don't be scared." They said and picked him up. It was Hinata. He looked like it was hard for him to breathe as well, but he stayed strong.

"Can you open the window?" He asked Komaeda since his hands were full. The pale boy opened it and Hinata jumped out.

"What the-?!" Komaeda gasped. However, they arrived safely on the ground.

Nanami and Takahashi heard the firefighters arrive and they ran outside to tell them Komaeda was stuck in the office. When they got there, they were surprised to see Hinata holding Komaeda, who was still very much alive.

He handed him to one of the paramedics.

"Hinata-kun! How did you-?!" Nanami was out of breath from running before she was able to finish her sentence.

The brunet dusted off his pants. "I was able to get in through the window. I'm, uh, a good climber,"

"Thank God you were there in time!" She said.

"Yeah, he got really lucky,"

"But where's my dad?!" Takahashi frantically shouted.

"He wasn't in his office. I'm sure he's fine,"

Takahashi sighed in relief. "Oh my God..."

A paramedic approached Hinata. "You were in there too, right? Come with us. We need to check if you're okay,"

The brunet nodded and followed them into the ambulance.

In the evening, they came back to the school. Both of them were fine.

"Hinata-kun, why were you in Takahashi-sensei's office?"

"It was a coincidence,"

"I know you didn't climb through the window like you told Nanami-san." He said, staring at Hinata. "So? Why were you there?"

"I was just there,"

"But why? Does it have something to do with you being a spy?"

Hinata sighed. "I can't tell you anything about my job,"

"Right..." He said, disappointed.

The next day, an announcement was made during class.

"Komaeda Nagito, please come to the teacher's lounge right now," The principal said.

The pale boy made his way over there and looked around, confused.

"I'm over here," Takahashi, the principal, said.

"Oh. How can I help you?"

"My office isn't in a good condition right now, that's why we're meeting up here." He said with his usual friendly smile. "I just wanted to talk to you about your roommate,"

Komaeda nodded. "Alright,"

"So, have you ever noticed any strange behavior from him?"

He wasn't sure if he should tell him. He didn't want to betray Hinata. "No,"

"Nothing? Maybe... aggressiveness?"

"Not really. He's not aggressive,"

"Are you sure? Nothing?"

"Uhm... no, he hasn't done anything weird. Why are you asking?"

The principal put on a nervous smile. "Just... curiosity. I've been considering making you switch roommates,"

"What? But I like Hinata-kun!"

"Komaeda-kun." He said sternly. "Be honest with me,"

"I am,"

"You know something. Admit it."

"I don't know anything,"

Takahashi took a deep breath. "Komaeda-kun. You're one of my best, and frankly favorite, students. I don't want to argue with you. Just tell me what you know." He took a few steps towards him.

"Uhm... I don't know anything. Please stop asking, I-"

"Just tell me!"
