5. The Girls

Tuesday Aug 30th, 6:35pm

Lisa's POV

Speed walking down the hall with her mind racing, Lisa was trying to forget her conversation with Professor Jackson; but she couldn't because for some reason she was intrigued by him.

She stopped in the middle of the hall and just thought to herself "A good girl?" What did he mean by that?

Lisa just stood there and thought to herself and told herself she didn't have time for him and his foolishness.

About 15 minutes later, Lisa had arrived at the daycare center where she had dropped off Riley earlier that morning. When she arrived she heard two women chatting at the front desk and one of the voices sounded similar.

"Janet?" Lisa whispered to herself and when she walked around the corner she saw her sitting on the counter talking to the daycare coordinator that she met earlier.

Just standing there and not knowing what to really do or say, Janet broke the ice by excitedly reintroducing Lisa to the daycare coordinator, Kylie.

"Oh hey Lise! Come here I want you to meet someone", Janet had said. While laughing at her silly friend, Kylie had explained to Janet that she already met Lisa this morning and even got to spend time with her daughter today as well.

"Listen Ky I get it, but I wanna re-introduce you guys okay!" Janet said while giggling and having her nose up in the air and Kylie just allowed her to continue her introduction. "So Lisa this is my best friend Kylie and Kylie this is my new friend Lisa Marie."

Kylie and Lisa just looked at each other, then at Janet, then back at each other and just giggled.

"Nice to meet you" they both said while shaking each other's hand and laughing adding to Janet's excitement.

"Oh and sorry for being late Kylie, I had to stay after class and handle some things." Lisa said while pushing a strand of hair back and biting her bottom lip.

Not really caring about Lisa's tardiness, Kylie skipped over that and asked "So did you settle the score with Jackson?," while raising her freshly arched eyebrow and having her arms crossed, while Janet was still sitting on top of the counter Indian style looking at both of them.

"What score? and how do you know?" Lisa asked even though she could sense that Janet was the one who told her what happened in class.

"Well obviously Janet told me what happened earlier and how he called you out in class. Oh and before you say anything your secret is safe with me even though there's already a possibility that your business is being spreaded around campus", Kylie had said while sucking her teeth and while side eye Janet who was biting her lips while waiting for a response from Lisa.  

"Listen", Lisa said with a deep sigh. "Whatever Professor Jack—" "Michael, his name is Michael," Kylie said.

"Okay, well whatever Michael and I had spoken about is between us and honestly he just apologized about being an ass during class and that's all that matters", she had told them even though she remembered him asking her if she could keep a secret or not.

"Well what about the coffee incident that had you so pressed during class?"Janet had asked while looking into Lisa's eyes searching for an answer. Coffee? Lisa had thought to herself because truth be told she had totally forgotten about that, her mind was still replaying Michaels whispered words. "Oh that's right. Well pretty much earlier today I was waiting for coffee then I spotted Michael talking to the barista, which I thought he was flirting with her..." and before she could finish the story Kylie and Janet laughed at her and shook their heads. 

Why are you guys laughing? Lisa asked curiously. "Because girl Mike is not messing with no barista, let alone a student, he has an "image" to uphold, Janet says while giggling and Kylie nods in agreement.

Lisa just looked at them both with a puzzled, but exhausted look on her face because why would do what he did in the classroom with her if he had an "image" to uphold.

"Listen enough about my brother, let's talk about us and this Saturday", Janet says seriously.

"If you aren't busy Lise, why don't you come out with Kylie and I to this little spot we know called "Free Xone"  in Brooklyn." Janet asked with big brown eyes. 

Even though it has been forever since Lisa has had any real fun, she was hesitant to go out in general, but also wasn't sure who was gonna watch Riley; especially since Danny and her weren't on speaking terms at the moment.

"Listen I would totally go, but I still haven't fully figured out the babysitter thing yet and I don't know if you guys haven't  noticed here, but I'm a single mother and I can't just leave my daughter to be herself," Lisa told them kinda of annoyed.

Sensing her annoyance, Kylie suggested "What about Rebbie?"

"Who?" Lisa asked.

"My older sister and that would be perfect. Listen Lise, Rebbie is my older sister, she has her own kids and honestly she watches everyone else's kids from my family. She's like my second mother."Janet said, trying to convince Lisa while Kylie gave her a reassuring smile. "So, what do you say?"

Lisa looked at them while they flashed their big eyes. "Fine, I'll go," she sighed.

Out of nowhere Janet hugged Lisa, while Kylie clapped, saying "Stella is gonna get her groove back!" While Lisa laughed and felt good knowing she was going out and with a group of people that weren't gonna judge her for being her.

Before Lisa could ask for details, here comes Riley running out yelling mama and giving her a big tight squeeze.

"Hey kiddo, how was your day with Miss Kylie?" Lisa had asked. "It was good, she really mama. And look at what I made for you? Look, I made us!" said Riley in her cute little voice while smiling hard.

"See mama, I made it with sunflowers and roses" she said while showing her the picture.

"It looks good, Riles. How about we get out of here, go home and put it on the refrigerator", Lisa said smiling at her shining light. Riley nodded to her mama and ran to Janet and Kylie and gave them a hug. "Alright girls I'll see you guys later and Janet can you share my info with Kylie for Saturday", Lisa said while winking and laughing at them.

"Bye Lise!" Janet and Kylie yelled and laughed at Lisa.
