Mission 17: Devil's Waves Part 2

Cruiser stepped up to his position in the batting cage as he gripped his bat, keeping an eye on the pitching machine. 'Alright, you son of a bitch. Let's see what you got,' the greaser thought to himself, doing some practice swings to get a feeling for the weight before getting back into position. When the first ball was thrown, Cruiser kept his eye on it, then hit a foul. "Come on, you can do better than that, Cruiser," he told himself as he prepared himself and swung at the second ball thrown at him seeing that he hit himself a single. "Alright, alright one more. You can do this. You can do better than this," he told himself as he got ready for the third pitch as the machine threw a fireball. Cruiser saw this, and swung his bat so hard that sparks flew from the bat as the ball was sent flying high it ripped the netting in the cage and flew out of the boat and into the water. "Home Run!"

"I'd say, that had to be 300 feet at best," Dante said, approaching the greaser demon without his coat on.

"I bet that nothing compared to the things you hit with that giant sword of yours," Cruiser said leaning on the bat with one hand.

"Somewhat. Sent an energy blast right back at a giant arachnid," Dante told Cruiser about his fight with a demonic spider-like creature called Phantom.

"Awesome," the greaser commented. "Hey, where's your gal? I thought you two would go somewhere romantic?"

"She's with Vaggie in the spa," Dante told him. "Spas aren't my style, so I thought I'd check up on everyone for her."

"You're not worried that Vaggie would one-up you somehow," Cruiser asked.

"Why should I? We both agreed to share her and she's cool with it," the Son of Sparda told the demon from the 1950s. "Besides, I can't take all of Charlie's time. Vaggie was with her first and they deserve some time with each other."

Cruiser nodded as he listened to Dante. "Alright. So, did you slide into home base yet?"

"That's none of your business," the Son of Sparda said as he wasn't answering the topic of him and Charlie in the bedroom.

"Come on, man! It's the Princess of all of Hell. I'm sure you two would do some kinky stuff."

Okay, fine. We didn't do it," Dante told the Fonzie ripoff, who looked to be shocked.

"What!?" The greaser screamed in surprise at the news. Sure they dated recently after the concert. They started to go out on dates and kiss. But he would have thought that Dante would have at least indulged in feeling up Charlie. "Why not?"

"Not enough time. I have to kill demons while also finding new clients for the hotel. And she's focused on everyone else getting rehabilitated," Dante told him not even bothered by it. "Plus, I haven't moved into her room yet."

"Then what the fuck are you waiting for," Cruiser asked the demon hunter. "For you to die and somehow end up down here?"

"Well, that's not happening anytime soon," Dante said as he got into the batting cage and hit a ball with the flat side of his sword, also breaking the net like Cruiser and making it go even farther than the Greasers. "Right now, I have all the time in the world," he said, hitting another ball and doing the same thing as the first one.

"Just don't wait too long. Right now, the Latina moth girl has you beat on that department," Cruiser said as he entered the cage next to the Son of Sparda and joined him.

As the two were enjoying a contest to see how well they could hit, one of the baseballs floated in the water before a fish-like tail knocked it back onto the deck. "Huh? What did that," Dante asked as he looked at the ball rolling back toward the cage. Shrugging his shoulders, he just continued batting while something peaked out from the water when he wasn't noticing.
