Mission 30: Epilogue
"Wait, I'm done," Dante asked Lucifer on the phone.
"I only needed your help with the overpopulation and you did plenty of work with that. Besides, my daughter's hotel is meant to help those that aren't your targets," Lucifer told the Demon Hunter, who agreed. "I'll let you say your goodbyes to Charlie and everyone. If I need you, I'll be sure to contact you," the Devil said before he hung up.
Dante returned the phone to the Princess of Hell, who looked at him with concern. "What was that about," Charlie asked as she sounded worried.
"Your dad says my job's finished now. I'm heading back," the Demon Hunter said straight forward to not make it difficult.
"What," Charlie shouted in surprise. "What about us?"
"I'm not sure," the Demon Hunter sighed as he had to choose his following words carefully as he didn't want to upset her. "Charlie, this isn't goodbye. This is more 'see you later'. I'm upset about it, but if you need me. You can rush to your dad's office and demand my number. But he's right and I should go back," he said as he held up a hand to say he was not finished speaking. "Sparda stayed on Earth to help protect humans and there are still different demons that are running around up there. It's my job to hunt them down. I can have Nero protect it, but he's not ready for the job yet. So until then, I have to be on Earth. You understand, right?"
Charlie heard every word he said and gave a tearful nod. "I just wish it wasn't so sudden," she said as tears fell down her face.
Seeing that she needed some form of comfort, Dante wrapped his arms around her and embraced her as she allowed the tears to drop on his clothing. "Looks like a devil can cry. Or maybe you have some human in you," the Demon Hunter said half-jokingly.
"Shut up," Charlie said, punching him in his chest as her red eyes met his blue. The Princess of Hell dried her eyes before she spoke again. "Do you promise you'll come back?"
"I promise," Dante told her as the Princess of Hell pecked his lips.
"Good, because if you don't, I'll drag you to Hell myself," Charlie said giving a playful smirk. "Now go and say your goodbyes to the others." Nodding his head, the Son of Sparda left the room to tell the others farewell.
"Are you sure it's wise to let him go," Vaggie asked her girlfriend.
"No. But he does need to return to Earth so he can protect humanity," Charlie answered with a hint of sadness in her voice.
"Well, I'll be there if you ever need a shoulder to cry on," Vaggie assured her. "But if he breaks your heart, I'll stab him with my new spear."
"Thanks, Vaggie," Charlie said as she kissed her girlfriend. "We better say goodbye to him one more time," Charlie said as she walked out of the room and headed down into the lobby of the Hotel but felt a cramp as she went down the stairs. 'That never happened before, I hope it'll go away.'
Everyone walked the Demon Hunter out to the entrance of the hotel to give their goodbyes as Zephyrus waited patiently. "Well, this is it. I hope some of you make your way to Heaven," he said as he walked faced each of the hotel guests before stopping at Angel Dust. "Angel, don't cause the staff too much trouble. Especially Vaggie, she might want to use her new weapon on you."
"Yeah, but that's still not gonna stop me from messing with her," Angel Dust told the Demon Hunter giving off a sly smirk, then coughed in his hand and stuck out the other. "If I do see you again, I'll be sure to break bread and recommend some pizza joints."
