Promotion: Outside the Castle

The next day, our friends were ready to leave for their very first proper mission. Pakki hadn't told anyone about last night - sometimes Nathan acted strange, especially with them. It was to the point where he only really acted normal with Colt.

Our friends waved their possibly last goodbyes to their fellow divers as they headed out into the wastes - their goal was to collect Umbrite. An extremely rare metal found only inside the Depths. For what purpose they need this metal was unknown even to them, however it didn't concern them much. They thought only about finally being able to go outside and contribute to mankind's knowledge about the Depths.

As they were walking through the wasteland, suddenly they heard something unexpected - a bubble pop.
Faust was the first to whip around. "Oh look... It's a MASSIVE CRAB."
And indeed it was something known as a Crustaceous Rex, a gigantic crab-like creature known to cause the death of many apprentice divers.
The rest of the group jumped back, waiting for anyone to think of what to do, before Colt finally spoke up.
"Surround it!"

Gwen and Pakki ran to the other side of the crab, both striking at it only to have their weapons bounce back from it's armour.
Colt glared at the rex for a second before firing a beam of thunder at it's eyes, temporarily blinding it. "Focus on it's joints, it has no armor there!"
A couple of strikes later, the crab jumped up high into the air, to which all of them expect Colt backed off.

Colt was knocked back at insane speeds, flying into a house. Gwen called out his name and ran after him.
Pakki and Faust returned to fighting to the Crab, Faust attracting it to himself so he could parry it's attacks masterfully. The crab must have been nearly dead at this point, they thought - only to hear something none of them wanted to hear. The unmistakable sound of a megalodaunt scream.
Faust turned around to see a megalodaunt fast approaching them.
"Damn it... I'll be right back." He said, going to fight the megodaunt alone.

Pakki looked between Faust and the Crustaceous Rex. "DON'T-- Leave me here with this thing!"
Yet it was already too late.

Gwen ran into an already half-collapsed building. "Colt! Where are you?!-"
That's when she saw him - Colt was recoiled in the corner of the building, staring at a corpse, his spear having broken underneath the crab when it landed.
Gwen quickly approached him, starting the hand signs for her deep star, however they were interrupted by a jellyfish flying through a hole in the wall, shocking them both.
Colt yelped out in pain, opening his eyes and seeing what he feared most: A king gigamed, firing tons of tiny gigameds at them. He stumbled up, finding a barrel to block the frame of the missing door of the building.
Gwen looked at him. "What... Are you doing?"
Colt panicked, clearly severely wounded still. "Outside... There's a giant... Gigamed..."
Gwen looked out the hole in the wall. "...N-No..."
Colt suddenly stopped, panicking even more. He did have blurry vision - but was he just imagining it? Had he gone crazy?
Gwen then continued. "There's two..."

Faust was still fighting the megalodaunt, having avoided being hit even once. "Come on... Do something new for a change!!" He said as he coated his greatblade in flames, slicing at the megalodaunt which made it recoil.
The giant creature then bent down, firing thousands of tiny coral shards from it's back at Faust.
"I didn't mean it literally!" He said as he parried each and every single shard that would have hit him. He lifted his greatsword behind himself as the sharko swiped at him with it's claw.
Faust interrupted the strike, slamming his giant sword into the creature's arm, completely severing the lower half of it as it bent down from the force.
"There's your ugly face..!" Faust said as he finished it off, stabbing the darksteel blade into it's face.

From the distance came yet another creature - this time, a lionfish.
