Ever since Huckleberry Hound moved to Hill Street Neighborhood, he's been making a ton of friends. Shortly after he was hired at the jazz club, he met Mr. Jinks, Pixie, Dixie, Yogi Bear, and Boo-Boo. They had all formed their very own performance troupe, found newfound success in television, and best of all, they'd all become very good friends. But a rather sad turn of events had taken place. Yogi had proven to be such a popular figure on their show, he'd been given a show of his own, which meant he was no longer one of Huck's acts.
Yogi and Boo-Boo had just moved back to their original home in Jellystone Park just a day ago, where their show would be filmed. But that left their old house empty, and to an extent, that also left a bit of an empty space in Huck's heart. He knew he could go and visit the bears at any time, but he currently had no third act in his own show, and time was running out to find a new one.
The hound was sitting on his front porch on this partly-cloudy day, trying to cheer himself up by reading one of his comic books. But later, he decided to head on over to Pixie and Dixie's house for lunch. But that afternoon, he and the gang were in for a big surprise. You see, the gang had gathered at the small house of Pixie and Dixie, and right next to it was the house where Mr. Jinks lived. (Pixie and Dixie's house was tiny and mouse-sized, so if the gang ever met up at their place, they had to meet in the backyard.) But they weren't inside having their meal, or watching TV. They were gathered around the fence in the backyard! They were jumping to get a glimpse at what was going on next door, the house that Yogi had lived in!
"Gee, it sure is quiet around here without Yogi," Pixie sighed.
"Yeah, but look!" Dixie cried, pointing. "I think I see a moving van!"
"I see it too!" Huck shouted. "It's at the same house Yogi lived in! Gosh, I guess we're getting a new neighbor already!"
"Whoopee!!" the mice shouted.
"Like, uh, who could it be?" Jinks asked. "Could it be someone from another country?"
"I dunno!" Huck answered. "But that would be pretty neat! Or maybe it could be a gal from another town!"
Jinks snickered. "Maybe it's a beautiful French poodle for all you know!"
"Oh, Jinks," Huck sighed.
"Whoever our new neighbor is, we better make him feel welcome!" Pixie grinned.
"Or her!" Dixie added, nodding. "We could make great friends with whoever is moving in!"
The gang watched as the back of the moving van opened up and a whole team of movers started hauling boxes and furniture into the house.
"Hmm, maybe after we give em' a chance to settle in, we should go over and introduce ourselves!" Huck suggested.
So they all went back inside for lunch. But two hours later, Huck returned from the store with a present for the new neighbor. It wasn't until he passed by the house again when the moving van had left and he thought he heard something going on inside.
"Eh?" he wondered. "What's going on in there?"
So he walked up to the front door and knocked. No answer. So he knocked again, but still, no one came to the door. Then he noticed that the door was open, so he poked his head in and looked around.
"Hello?" he called out. "Anyone home? It's me, your new neighbor!"
He then heard a big sigh coming from upstairs. Curious, he wandered inside and walked up to the staircase. "Hello?" he repeated.
He then heard another big sigh. So he went upstairs to see what was going on. When he got to the door, he heard a voice.
"I can't believe that I'm moving in today," it said. "I'm so nervous about meeting people."
