One morning, Huckleberry Hound was in the park, rolling around with his roller skates. He had just gotten the skates for his birthday only a few days ago. He had been practicing all morning, skating in the sunshine, and soon enough, a whole crowd of people came to watch, including children. And as he skated, he sang a cheerful song.
"There's a little wheel
a-turning in my heart,
There's a little wheel
a-turning in my heart,
in my heart, in my heart,
There's a little wheel
a-turning in my heart!
There's a little song
a-singing in my heart,
There's a little song
a-singing in my heart,
in my heart, in my heart,
There's a little song
a-singing in my heart!
There's a little bell
a-ringing in my heart,
There's a little bell
a-ringing in my heart,
in my heart, in my heart,
There's a little bell
a-ringing in my heart!
Oh I feel
so very happy in my heart,
Oh I feel
so very happy in my heart,
in my heart, in my heart,
Oh I feel
so very happy in my heart!"
And as he finished his song, the crowd cheered and applauded.
"Thank you! Thank you!"
He soon started skating around the park some more as he thought about something very special that was going to be happening later that day.
"I can't wait to do my roller skating show with Hokey and Jinks!" he said to himself. "We've been practicing all week!"
He soon skated up to Mr. Jinks, and Hokey Wolf, who had their roller skates on too.
"Hi, fellers! Sorry I'm late! Ready for the show?"
"Are you kidding?" Hokey replied. "I've been practicing the routine even in my sleep! I'm ready for anything!"
"Like uh...yeah! I think this'll be a cinch!" Jinks added.
"I've been practicing a lot of spins too!" Huck beamed. "Well, let's go!"
The three friends started skating around the park, spinning, grabbing hands and turning, and even skating backwards! Huck even did a spin jump in the air! But all of a sudden, there was a loud noise.
BOOM!
"Uhhh, what was that?" Hokey wondered.
"I think that's thunder!!" Huck shouted. "It's gonna rain!"
"Then we better head inside!!" Jinks yelled.
And they all skated out of the park, back through town, and straight to Huck's house. And as they entered, the rain started coming down. Huck went towards the window, and stared as raindrops fell from the clouds. "Ohhh, I was really looking forward to doing my roller skating show," he sighed.
