Have you ever had an animal follow you home? Well, it happened to Huckleberry Hound one day. It all started on a sunny spring day when he was visiting the zoo. Huck loved animals, so he was always happy to go and pay them a visit.

The first animals he saw were the giraffes. He loved not only their patterns, but their long necks too. So he got on his tippy toes, and tried to stand as tall as them. He almost lost his balance though. He laughed to himself as he continued to walk down the path. He soon came to another enclosure where some rhinos were lumbering about.

"I wonder how they can see where they're going with such a big pointy nose in front of their faces!" the hound laughed.

He then came across some cages where some monkeys were playing around. He couldn't help but laugh, finding the monkeys hilarious. He loved how silly they could be. After that, he stopped by a big enclosure, where some elephants were roaming. He watched as one dipped its trunk in a kiddie pool filled with water, and sprayed itself.

"Ain't that cute?" he chuckled. "Those elephants have long trunks for their noses! And they make mighty fine hoses too!"

Just then, the elephants let out loud trumpets. That made Huck laugh.

"The sound of an elephant's trumpet is just music to my ears!" he said.

He soon whistled as he moved on to see more animals, but one elephant, the baby of the bunch, stared at him as he walked away. She trumpeted happily, as for some reason, she really seemed to like Huck! When none of the other elephants or the zookeepers were looking, she managed to squeeze through the bars! She was quite thin for a baby elephant, so she was small enough to pass through the bars, which were spaced just wide enough. Since she didn't want to get caught, she crept into the bushes as she began to follow Huck, making his way through more of the zoo.

But Huck didn't notice her. He was too busy looking at the hyenas. And just watching them made him laugh. The little elephant wandered all over the zoo, following Huck everywhere from the lions to the tigers. Soon, he left the zoo and started walking home, but little did he know that the elephant was still following him. She suddenly tapped him on the shoulder with her trunk. Huck turned around to see her standing in front of him.

"Yes? What can I do for..." he paused to let out a gasp. He couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the little pachyderm standing there looking at him with a happy look on her face.

"Well now!" Huck chuckled. "Looks like a little baby elephant is following me home!" he went over to the elephant and started petting it.

"Hello there, little elephant! Golly, you're so adorable!"

The elephant then started sniffing the hound's fur with her trunk, causing him to giggle. "That tickles!" he said. "Now tell me, where did you come from?"

But the elephant just went up to him.

"You really wanna come home with me, don't you?" Huck chuckled. "Okay. Let's go!"

Huck started marching the rest of the way home with the elephant following right behind him. But when they got to Huck's house, when he opened the door, the elephant couldn't fit inside.

"Hmmmm, we're gonna have to go in the backyard," he said.

So he took the elephant into the backyard, and he decided to amuse her for now, while he thought of what he could do about this little problem.

"Say girl...you wanna play catch?" he asked, holding up a red rubber ball.

The elephant looked at the ball, and grabbed it in her trunk. Then she started kicking it with her little feet.
