One morning, Huckleberry Hound was sitting in his chair, reading a book while he listened to a record. When he got to a funny moment, he snickered, then broke into a fit of laughter. Any funny story he read made him laugh.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I don't know why but this book is absolutely HILARIOUS!!!"

But then, Mr. Jinks overheard Huck's laughter, and marched over to his house, opened the door, and went over to him.

"Huck, stop laughing!!" he cried. "You need to cool it! I can hear you all the way from the next block!"

Huck ceased his laughter and looked up at Jinks.

"Oh, hiya, Jinks! Sorry, but this book is just so funny!!"

Just then they heard a familiar voice. "Special delivery for Huckleberry Hound!"

It was Mr. Post, the mailman! Huck ran over to the door and received a letter from him. "Thanks, Mr. Post!"

He went inside, sat down in his favorite chair, and opened the letter. It read:

"Dear Huckleberry,

You and your co-stars have been cordially invited to perform live onstage at the historic Hudson Theatre in New York City this upcoming weekend! We have been looking for famous west coast performers to participate in our new musical revue, and after careful consideration, we have decided that you and your crew would make perfect candidates for our program.

Reasons include your outstanding voice, your hit television program and your iconic scat of 'boop-oop-a-doop!' Please come and bring your friends with you for a performance at the Hudson Theatre! We are providing you with hotel accommodations at the Plaza for 5 days, and you are allowed to bring one pet, and do not be late. We look forward to seeing you!

Sincerely,

The 7 Star Point Theater Company, Robert Reverie, President."

Huck's eyes lit up with excitement. He couldn't believe he had just been invited to New York City!

"YEEEE-HAWW!! YIIIIPPEEE!!" he cheered, leaping out of his chair. "I'm goin' to New York!! It's a dream come true!!"

Huck had always dreamed about visiting New York City ever since he was a young pup. He always wanted to see the bright lights, the big stars, and most of all, hear the music. Plus there were lots of historical sights and big name tourist attractions that he'd seen in the movies and read about in the newspapers and in his father's old travelogue books! And now he was going to get an opportunity to see them!

Jinks covered his ears as Huck leaped up and cheered at the top of his lungs, but he smiled as soon as the hound had calmed himself. "Like, uh...this is fantastic news, Huck! We're goin' on a big trip! And we get to perform too!"

"And the letter also said that I can bring one pet, so that means I don't have to leave Pudgy behind!" He looked over at his adorable little puppy dog and patted him on the head. "Whaddya say, Pudgy? You ready for a New York vacation?"

Pudgy barked with excitement and wagged his tail.

"Oh, this is gonna be your first trip, Pudgy!"

"When do we leave?" Jinks asked.

"Well, it says the show is next weekend, so we have plenty of time to prepare, but let's tell the rest of the gang tonight when we meet at the diner for supper! I can't wait to share the good news!"

As soon as Huck rang up the gang to meet at the diner, he and Jinks made their way there in Huck's car. As soon as they arrived, the gang had already got there, and were ordering their supper; grilled cheese sandwiches for Pixie and Dixie, chicken tenders with a side of onion rings for Hokey Wolf, and a cold-cut sandwich for Ding-a-Ling.
