It had been a couple of years since Huckleberry Hound had moved to Hill Street Neighborhood, and he had gotten around by foot, and by scooter, but still hadn't gotten a driver's license. Well, that was all about to change. Huck had been going to driving school for the past month, and today he was taking his final exam. He slowly made his way around the course, driving the vehicle that the instructor had picked out for him: a Ford Falcon. Huck had managed to pass every part of the test so far, and now came the trickiest part of all: parallel parking.
"Okay, slow and steady," he said to himself. "Slow and steady."
He felt very nervous, as he had trouble with this part of the test in sessions past. He felt determined to pass the test though, and took a deep breath as he remembered to line himself up with the car in front of him, then start backing into place. He slowly and carefully parked the car successfully, thus meaning he passed the test.
"I did it!!" he cried. "I passed the test!!"
The instructor smiled as he checked off the last mark on his clipboard. "Well, I didn't think you could do it, but you've passed alright! Congratulations, Huckleberry!"
The blue hound felt so happy as he soon made his way back to the license bureau to claim his new driver's license. He stood in front of the camera as it snapped his picture, and soon, he had his identification card all ready to go! Now he just needed a car to drive. Luckily, the auto shop was right next door from the driving school, and Huck had been saving a lot of money to pay for a new vehicle to call his own. He looked at several different models, before he settled on a little white sedan.
"I like this one!" he beamed, pointing to the car. "It looks just like a little hot rod! It's the perfect size for a little hound dog like me! Oh! And it can fit my friends too!"
He paid for the car, got in, and stepped on the gas pedal. He took it nice and steady as he drove himself home, feeling very pleased with himself. Of course, he couldn't help but honk his horn and wave to people as he drove through town though.
"Howdy, folks!" he called out. "Guess who just got a driver's license?!"
He soon made his way home, parked the car in the driveway, then headed into the house to get himself a nice cool drink of sweet tea. After a long, successful day, he found himself sitting in his favorite chair, watching one of his favorite shows on TV. He enjoyed watching The Andy Griffith Show since it was one of the newest shows on television, and it was already a smash hit. He was watching as Barney Fife was investigating a "stranger in town," but ended up getting his fingers caught in a mousetrap that had been planted in a hotel mail slot! Huck couldn't help but crack up.
"Oh, hi Barney!" Sheriff Andy greeted as he entered the hotel lobby.
"Oh, hey, Andy."
"What are you doin' back there?"
"Uh, oh nothin'...I just stopped by to talk to Jason."
"Well what's in there?"
"In where?"
"In that box there."
"Oh, in there?" Barney pretended to look in the mail slot and shook his head. "Nothin' in there!"
"Well what have ya' got your hand in there for?" Andy asked.
"Oh I just come by every so often and...stick my hand in."
"You do?"
"Yeah, sometimes both hands!" Barney placed his other hand in the mail slot next to the other and got his fingers snapped up in another mousetrap hidden inside as he stifled a scream.
