"What are you doing to that poor child?" Her mother was wearing her favorite dress. The blue one with flowers embroidered on the end as she ran towards Ominis and pulled him into her arms. Ominis' face was blank, not registering that someone had even tried to protect him. It was like he'd retreated inside of his own mind.
Mr. Gaunt frowned, "Depulso." Her mother was thrown away from Ominis. "Don't come near my son. Ominis. This is your final chance or we'll start again."
Tessa watched as Ominis grabbed his father's wand that was outstretched towards him. The child didn't even look at Tessa's mother as he pointed the wand in her direction. A hollow, disassociated voice escaped him.
"Crucio."
Torn Apart
Her mother's mouth opened, letting out the most horrendous scream.
"Good boy." Mrs. Gaunt patted her boy's head as the family Apparated away.
This is where the memory ended, but she didn't need to see anymore of it to know what happened next. Her father had ran out of their simple cottage. Baron Cauldwell had seen his wife on the ground crying from traumatizing pain at-supposedly the hands of a child, and how a large family just disappeared...Vanished into thin air. With her father assuming the title of Baron soon due to his merchant business expanding, he threw his wife into an insane Asylum where she was locked up. Tessa at the young age of seven, didn't understand why she couldn't go visit her mother in the Hospital.
Her mother wasn't sick. She wasn't crazy or insane. She had the Cruciatus Curse placed on her which meant that she was wasting away in a place she didn't belong for the last ten years...Bile rose up in her throat. If she spent yen years in a decrepit place like an Asylum...did she end up going mad for real? Her father never allowed her to visit and Tessa didn't want him to find her-track her down if she did visit. What did her mother think of her now? Her sweet mother who ran out to stop a younger Ominis from being tortured and then got tortured herself...by the person she loved.
And how would she tell Ominis this? Does he know? Did he know and not tell her? Tessa paid no attention to the Headmaster who was still drinking and briskly walked out the door. She grabbed Ominis' hand without further word until they were halfway down the stairs to Sebastian and Anne. Out of ear shot for everyone.
"Do you remember who you placed the Cruciatus Curse on?" She interrogated him, searching his expression for any chance of a lie.
His eyebrows scrunched together in a mixture of confusion and concern. "No, I don't recall much. What happened in there?"
"Your father sent over a memory in a vial." She explained, crossing her arms, "It said You're Welcome, Filth. Nice one, he is."
He smile wasn't kind. "I suppose neither of us have to ask our parent's blessings."
She shook her head; they really were perfect for each other. At least her mind wasn't the only one to go there. "Ominis, I'm serious. Do you remember anything about it?"
Ominis was silent. He understood that she was undoubtedly serious and there was more behind this question, but his face was blank. It was apparent he didn't know what she was getting at.
