Epilogue
The mountain of grading sheets on the table in front of her was ridiculous. Who knew being a Charms Professor was so much work out of class? Tessa sighed and rubbed her big belly counting the days until she would give birth to their second child. It had been tricky managing a new teaching position, being pregnant for the first time, and Ominis' first year as an Auror. But everything eventually came together with the birth of their son Theodore Sebastian Cauldwell. She remembered the normally nonchalant, don't-care Potions Professor almost tearing up at the request of him being the God-father.
Now with their daughter, Sabine Poppy Cauldwell it was another story. The two witches were engaged and Anne had a fit that it wasn't Sabine Anne Cauldwell, but it didn't sound as nice. After a few weeks she relented and demanded that Ominis 'knock' Tessa up again so that she could also have a child named after her. Ominis quickly retorted that it was bad luck and their child didn't need to be as mischievous as Anne was.
"Mum!" Tessa looked over to see her five year old running in with tears falling down his cheeks. She held her arms out immediately, seeing her husband walked in with a foul attitude. Her son hugged her as she looked at Ominis confused.
He ran a hand threw his hair that was a bit longer now, but he kept it combed back otherwise it annoyed him too much. "He's upset because I didn't buy him some chocolate frogs."
"Why didn't you?" Tessa asked accusingly.
He held up the bag of sugar quills she'd been craving, "They were out. Completely sold out."
"How is a magical candy store out of chocolate?" She asked dryly and rubbed her son's back to stop him from wailing.
"I didn't ask. I merely bought the sugar quills my oh so adoring-and demanding wife asked of me." He replied dryly, "I asked if he wanted anything else, but no. It had to be Chocolate frogs."
Tessa laughed and kissed the top of her son's head. His hair was honey blond like Ominis', but the blue of his eyes were all her. She whispered against his ear, "Your father hides his chocolate wands in the left drawer up in his office. Go retrieve one and we can share."
That stopped the crying almost instantly. Theo ran out of there like a niffler who'd stolen a shiny pocket watch and Ominis looked at her with a bemused expression.
"You told him about my stash, didn't you?" He didn't even wait before running up the stairs, "Theo! Get back here!"
Tessa smiled widely, watching her husband chase after their son. It was crazy to think that it's been five years since they met. She looked back at the mountain of paperwork and didn't even get through two students when Theo came running back down holding a chocolate wand in his hands.
"I got one!" He cried out excitedly.
She smiled, as he handed the already melting chocolate out to her. Tessa snapped it in half, giving him the larger piece. "Here, love. You should thank your father for sharing."
"Thanks dad!" Theo grinned with his mouth covered in chocolate towards Ominis as he came down the stairs.
He raised an eyebrow, "For what? Taking you to Honeydukes or letting you steal my chocolate?"
Theodore didn't hesitate. "Both!"
"That's your son." Ominis muttered, sitting beside her. He placed a hand on her stomach affectionately, "She's going to turn out just like me."
It was Tessa's turn to raise an eyebrow as she ate her half of the chocolate wand, "Blind?"
Horror flashed across his face and he squinted at her, "That's not even funny."
"Yes dear." Tessa drawled out, looking at her chocolate covered fingers, "Theo, will you go get mummy a napkin please?"
With a determined nod, Theo left the room to head into the kitchen. Ominis took the opportunity to grab her hand and place her pointer finger into his mouth, swirling his tongue around the chocolate.
"Ominis, our son is in the other room." She hissed, feeling her cheeks redden. It didn't matter if it was five for fifty years from now, he still knew how to wound her up.
The Heir of Slytherin turned Auror smirked, pulling her hand away and instead placing his hand on her inner thigh, "The doctor said it helps to keep active throughout the pregnancy."
She grimaced, "Well enjoy it because this is the last time I'm giving you another kid."
"I thought we were going to have our own Quidditch team." Ominis joked.
Tess bristled at the comment. "Absolutely not unless you're planning to push the kids out."
"Ah and here I was so hopeful. The cruelty of fate." Her husband mused, tenderly rubbing her stomach. "Let's at least have one more after this."
Ominis looked at her with a pleading expression and she hid her smile. He was so worried about becoming a father not having a good role model himself. But he had Mr. Sallow to ask questions and who he considered like a father after all. It was through his own determination that Ominis became a loving and kind father. Even if he didn't get his child Chocolate frogs because they were sold out...But this was also Theo's third time going this week and it was only Wednesday.
Tessa nodded, giving in easily with a pout. "I hate you."
Ominis laughed, kissing her temple. "I hate you too, Sweetheart."
