The smaller poacher began to drag the other one with a levitation charm, glaring hatefully at the two younger wizards. Tessa had her back turned to them, satisfied that they were listening to Ominis when she saw another flare erupt from the tip of his wand. Another warning.

"Get BACK." He snarled, pushing her away from him towards the tree line where she stumbled, falling back.

Tessa hadn't even heard the incantation, the coward must have been said too quietly for them to hear.. Ominis knew that the green cast of Dark magic would penetrate any protective charm. His wand had either warned him of that much or he was familiar with the Dark Arts in a way she wasn't. Tessa felt terror seize her as it hit him straight in the chest, knocking him a few steps back. The only thoughts racing through her mind was which spell did the poachers cast.

The Imperius Curse? The Cruciatus Curse?

Or... The Killing Curse?

The Truth

Tessa watched horrified to see the once clouded gaze of Ominis' turn a bright, green color. The ragged poacher with the dislocated kneecap had chosen the Imperius Curse. Ominis was still, staring blank in their direction. It was unnerving to see him look right at her as if he could see her.

"Not so tough now, are you boy?" Cackled the wounded poacher as he set his attention on Tessa. "Use the Killing Curse on her. Now."

Ominis nodded.

Tessa felt her heart pumping overtime.

He raised his wand.

Would it be quick?

And he pointed to the poachers, "Bombarda Maxima."

The poachers comically flew into the air backwards after the loud explosion was cast. While one hit his head hard against the ground floor, the already wounded poacher hit a lamp post and crumbled to the ground. Both of them were passed out from pain and the direct impact of the explosive spell.

Ominis blinked a few times, the Unforgivable spell disappearing from him. "Who knew being an Occlumens would come in handy one day."

Occulumens? Tessa had to blink away her own tears, standing up as she gritted out, "If you ever do that again, I'll cast the explosive charm on you."

A choking laugh escaped Ominis as he turned towards her, taking a step forward. "Pardon? Did you not see me save your life a moment ago? We didn't know which Dark Magic spell was cast. You could have died."

"And that's exactly why, I'm pissed off." She closed the distance, pulling him down to her level by his paisley tie. "If you died because of me, I would figure out how to bring you back to life, and then kill you myself for being an idiot."

Ominis had a huge grin, "I'm an idiot for saving your life?"

"Undoubtedly." She quipped back.

He pecked her lips with a quick kiss, surprising her. "Then I'll be an idiot for the rest of my life. Shall we head back now? Or do you plan to have your way with me?"

"I hate you." She huffed, letting go of his tie, and moving to walk past him.

She heard him laugh, grabbing her hand and not letting it go as they walked back to the Castle. "I hate you too."
