Chapter 1: Entrance Exams
*****

You took a deep breath. Focus. You had to pass the entrance exams to get into U.A. Highschool. This is where your older sister and father went. You couldn't fail here.

The written half was simple. It was the practical portion the really determined whether you can make it or not.

"Go." those words through the microphone caused an instant reaction from within. In less than a second, you were off, running with the other competitors. Only very few are accepted into U.A. and you had to be sure you were one of them. The entrance exams were a competition. There were four types of robots, each give a different number of points when defeated, ranging from zero to three. You clicked your tongue as you ran through the streets, why put in zero pointers if they were so useless?

Everyone around you was rushing to defeat the robots in the make-shift city. You looked at the other students, many had great combative power. You weren't as strong as them, not nearly, but you had a decent quirk that's produced a long line of great Support Heroes. You had already been taught basic combat by your father. You had to win this; you've been training for the past 3 years for no other reason.

You turned a sharp corner and met immediately with one of those robots, a two pointer. You tensed but breathed in and held both your hands toward it, focusing your quirk. You fiddled with the surrounding oxygen and watched as the metal rusted before your eyes. Within a few short seconds the robot was a coarse brown.

With a smirk, you ran and raised your fist. However, before you could swing, an explosion flew you backwards. You rolled on the sidewalk and groaned. Bits of metal flew past you, everywhere. "You snooze, you lose!" someone yelled between a string of explosions. You grimaced, frustration built up and you couldn't even get a good look at the him since he left just as fast as he came.

You grunted and stood. There was no way to get into the academy if you kept at it like this, you had to up your game. Your feet raced into a bolt and threw away any hesitation. Points! I need more robots! There were only fifteen minutes of this exam, and you were wasting them standing around.

Luckily, a 3-point robot came into your view. You sprinted and hung your hand low, aiming for the bottom. With the gears and metal rotating the tracks rusted and weak, the robot collapsed on itself. After oxidizing the rest of it's body, it shattered with just a shove. "Three." you said to yourself. No more time to think, let's go!

"Four."

"Six."

"Nine."

"Ten."

"Eleven."

You counted and ran, even more robots had been destroyed.

"Seventeen."

"Eighteen."

You dreaded that timer counting down and moved your legs until they felt like jelly.

"Twenty-six."

"Twenty-nine."

Now, less than two minutes remained. You were well aware of the giant zero-point robots roaming around. Just avoid them, you told yourself. They were useless to you.

Unfortunately, you were running out of energy. It's fine, there's not much time left anyway.

You passed another corner, hoping for one last three-pointer, but instead came across something you didn't want to see. The zero-point robot, you somehow hadn't realized you were racing towards one. It was taller than the buildings, were you so focused on points that you hadn't realized?

Although you turned around to run away, a scream froze you in place. With a horrified look, you slowly turned your head.

A girl had her long hair caught by a two-point robot, and the zero-point was closing in! No more hesitation, no more hesitation! You repeated in your mind and let out a frustrated cry as you turned heel and ran to the girl. A held out hand rusted the robot, weakening it and giving the girl a chance to break free and escape. You grabbed her arm and immediately felt her fear. The both of you two ran fast from the large impending steps from the zero-pointer.

"Just run!" you yelled at her. A minute ago you would've begged for more time but now you were hoping it would run out already. The girl whose arm you dragged panted behind you. You flinched at another shake from a step of the giant.

"Above us!" she shrieked. The huge lifted foot loomed overhead, the girl's fear beside you skyrocketed as she began fearing for her life just before it becomes one of determination and desperation. As you lifted your palm to the raised foot, the girl hugged you with both arms tightly in place. The brown rust of the robot's limb was hidden when green thick...hair?-covered your view. A protective dome had formed around you both.

The impact of the step hit her green hair strong. You could hear the loud squeaks of the its leg as the metal burst and shattered. The two of you hugged each other tightly as you waited for it to pass, only considering your exit safe once you heard a loud boom as the robot fell from loss of limb. The green hair from the girl you saved slowly retreated. She felt relief and thankful.

Underneath the fallen body of the zero-pointer, the two-point robot you oxidized laid beneath it, crushed and destroyed. With a huff, you said, "Thirty-one." and smiled.

The buzzer of the clock ran out but the girl still held you in her arms. "Hey, you alright? You're not hurt or anything, or you?" you asked. Her eyes were watery, but her voice held strong.

"The grace of the holy one must have sent you to me and saved my life. I am eternally grateful." she said.

"...Yeah.. Okay. Glad to hear it." you gave a cough and pat her on the back, "The important thing is that you're safe. If that was a real villain with actual intelligence, we might not have been as lucky."

She clasped her hand together and smiled at you, saying, "And I'm sure we would have pulled through that trial together, as well. Thank you."

You laughed at her reply and shrugged. You were probably just overthinking things. "Come on, let's get out of here. I'm beat." you began walking away. She was an odd one for sure, but it felt nice to actually save someone this time.

With a tired yawn, you left the building sore and exhausted. The only thing you could do now was hope you got in. Everyone around you was equally worn out, however there was one that was loud. Very loud. He continued exclaiming how everyone around him was just a "measly sidekick" or a "fucking nerd" and that he was "the best". Some people just don't have manners.
