Millie
We have been on the road for two hours. We've been driving that I lost count of the traffic lights passed, I lost count of the music we skipped, the houses, and bridges. The sun is also almost setting down.
"Hey, are we there yet?" I asked him again.
"Yeah, almost there," he replied with a grin.
To be honest, going out with him makes me nervous. My heart didn't stop racing the moment he picked me up in our house. I am supposed to ask him out, but I guess he did it before I can even do it.
I watch him park his car and we both jump out. He grab a few stuff from his trunk and we went by the sea. I found a lying trunk of a tree and we settled there.
The beach is not so private so there are still a lot of people walking around, probably waiting for the sunset. The sky is already pink and orange and the see perfectly reflect the colors from above.
Forrest sat beside me, opening a can of carbonated water, then handing it to me.
"What's all this about?" I asked before drinking the water.
He shrugged. "I remember you said you like the beach, campfire—sucks I didn't prepare a campfire for tonight, stargazing kind of date?" he answered also drinking his drink.
My eyebrows raised. "Is this a date?"
"Yeah. I'm sorry I didn't ask you properly and really spontaneous."
I bit my lip and drink on the water again. I like spontaneous things.
I laughed. "So you drive for almost 2 hours for this? I appreciate the effort, Forrest."
A grin was etched on his face while staring far through the horizon. I stared at his face for a little while. His right dimple is showing. It might also be my favorite part of his face. There are smile lines on both sides of his lips that show whenever he grins. He's perfect.
He caught my eyes while staring at him and I got a better view of his face. His eyebrows furrowed when he caught me lost in his eyes.
"Why?" he mouthed.
I smiled.
"Nothing," I said and looked away. I said nothing when I wanted to say was he's perfect. He's beautiful and I like him so much and I want him always near me.
We sat there few more minutes, watch as the sun disappear from the horizon, until it's getting a little darker. We talked a little but most of the time, we're quiet. I like the quiet, but at the same time, it feels peaceful. I never quite experienced this kind of peace for a while now, that I almost forgot how it felt.
My life has always been chaotic and messy. With my family having the riches, we can't always escape from the spotlight. That's why our actions are always careful and calculated. In this world, no one likes to have a bad reputation.
The walls have ears. Rumors spreads really fast. And what sucks is that most of them aren't true, but sometimes, we have to deal with it.
I buried my feet in the warm sand and felt the light breeze of the wind. The past few days have been a little harder than usual and I think I really do deserve this peace even just for few hours.
