You woke up in the middle of the day. You couldn't move as you stared at your ceiling. It was quiet... Too quiet. You thought about calling Wally, but as you reached for the phone, you saw your skin was gray. You panicked, you didn't know that could happen. You looked intensely at your arm at your new gray hue.
You grabbed a hand mirror and looked in it, your hair was still the same h/c, but your skin was grey, and the dark circles under your eyes was more noticeable than usual. You didn't want anyone, even Wally to see you this way, you didn't know what he would do. You knew he seemed to care about your colors, so you didn't know what he would say if he saw you gray.
You panicked more and more to the point you threw up. You were so drained afterwards, that you just laid down on the cold bathroom floor, curling up into a ball as you once again fell asleep. The nightmares only got worse and more graphic, instead of stopping before your death, they now showed the death as if you where a ghost watching yourself in the third person.
You were sobbing in your sleep, you heard talking but it was muffled as the screams grew louder. You woke up in a panic once again, looking at the wall clock in your home. It was 10 minutes before Wally would return to check on you, which made you panic, you had to hide how gray you became before he saw you. You looked around and found some makeup as well as face paint you breathed to calm yourself down as you applied it.
Your goal was to look like you weren't gray, to have at least enough color to avoid what you thought he would do to you if he saw all your colors drained. You finished just as he opened your front door. "I'm back." He called out as you rushed to hide the makeup and face paints you used. You were about to greet him until you realized that you forgot to use a setting spray so that the color wouldn't smudge off.
'Fuck! I'm out of time' you yelled internally as you forced a smile to go greet Wally. You walked out of the bathroom and waved at him. "Hi Wally..! How was work?" You asked in a light chipper tone. He walked over to you "Work was the same as always.. how are you feeling?" He asked as he reached to cup your cheek in his hand, but you jolted back a bit before he did.
"I'm feeling a bit better..! Still a bit tired heh.." you said with a tired chuckle. Wally looked at you somewhat intensely, you stayed as calm as you could. "Y/n. I feel like you are lying to me." He spoke coldly as he continued to approach you, with you walking backwards until you hit your wall. 'Shit. Nowhere to back away.' You thought as he kneeled down in front of you.
"Did you eat anything?" He asked as he stared into your eyes deeply. "No... I was asleep... Then I woke up to throw up... Then fell asleep again in the bathroom." You said as he sighed. "Let's at least get some water in you.. You must be really dehydrated." He said as he stood up and held your hand. "Let's go." He said as he walked with you to the kitchen.
As you sat at the table waiting, you noticed your hand's paint job was smudged, causing a hint of gray to be noticeable by you. You were hoping, no.. Praying that Wally didn't notice the makeup that possibly smudged onto his hand from when he held yours. He handed you the glass of water not seeming to notice anything. 'Thank the fucking stars' you thought as you went for a sip of water.
You didn't notice, but he looked at his hand to see the smudged color. "Ah did I miss a spot from the factory..? No... I always wear gloves..." he spoke as he inspected the colors on his hand. 'Shit. He saw...! Well maybe he won't find out..?' You thought to yourself as you finished the glass of water and placed it down in front of you.
"Y/n, May I see your hand for a moment?" He asked as you held up the hand he didn't hold. He got slightly annoyed and then he stared at you intensely. "The one that I held, Y/n." He said coldly as you did as he told. 'Welp, I had a good run. Guess I'm gonna die.' You thought to yourself as he matched the smudge mark. The room went silent for a moment before he spoke.
"Thought so. You thought if you didn't look Pale, you would get away with me thinking that you were better. I'm not an idiot, Y/n. Wash the pigments off in the bathroom, I know that when people are sick, they are pale." He spoke coldly as you stood up in defeat. "Of course, Mr. Darling.." You went to the bathroom and shut the door, Soon turning on the sink to wash away your hard work. As the colors washed down the drain, you looked at your gray self.
You dried your hands and face off after turning off the sink. You didn't know that he was waiting outside the door for you to finish. "I'm coming in.." he said as the door slowly opened. "You don't have to panic about being-..." he froze as he looked at your gray skin. "...Pale-..." he finished before rubbing his eyes to make sure what he was seeing was true... And he saw that it was.
