17: Your Color is Showing

Throughout the day, You woke up, Got a dose of spectra, and went back to sleep. During the lunch hours, Wally came in. He didn't give you spectra as soon as you woke up, instead, he made you lunch and sat with you to give you company. "How are you feeling?" He asked while petting your head. You sigh and turned to him. "A bit sore, but other than that, I'm fine." You replied with a smile.

"Your colors are looking way better.. How many doses until you are back to your normal, Bright, self?" He asked as he tilt his head to the side. "Only two... Purple and then the mix of every color." You replied. "You are doing really well with dealing with the spectra... However.." he paused before continuing "I never did this experiment on anyone before you... So I'm not sure if there are any long-term effects... or if you will be fine..." he sighed softly.

You frown lightly, as he looked through the paperwork. "If that Fucker didn't do that to you..." he started, before you placed your hand on his to calm his anger. "Have you found a new doctor for the infirmary..?" You asked quietly. He sighed and leaned into the couch. "I just hired them today... Their name is Dr. Joy.." he replied quietly. "That's good-.." you started before he interrupted. "And don't worry Darling... I made sure that they were the nicest Doctor..." He sighed and softly smiled at you.

You smile back at him "Thanks... If you didn't step in on the fight that day-..." You started before you paused, He let you speak without interrupting. "I would have probably chucked them out the window..." you chuckled. " Normally if anyone breaks the window, I would be pissed the fuck off... but since you were defending yourself..." he paused before blushing softly. "I'm proud of you... Y/n... For dealing with this Hell... you deserve so much more..." he said softly with a frown.

"Oh... Wally... I'm fine now...! My color is almost back, and..." you paused and got embarrassed "Um... you're... So kind for taking me in instead of killing me immediately..." you chuckled softly as he rest his hand on yours, caressing it gently. "I feel like you have feelings you want to express... But you're scared of me rejecting you..." he sighed before asking "Am I right, Y/n?"

The room was silent for a moment before you gathered all your bravery and looked him in the eyes. "Wally Darling, I know we kissed... And I know you deeply care about me..! And you and I both know that I never got the chance to tell you these Three words..!!" You feel butterflies in your stomach as you say that. The room went Still, he was anticipating what you were about to say. As you open your mouth to tell him, The clock chimes, Signaling his lunch break is over.

"Oh... My break is over... I'm sorry, Y/n... Would you like to tell me later...?" He asked softly as you felt your heart sink. "Yeah..! Just give me the Purple Spectra and I'll... Tell you later..." you said with a saddened tone. He notices this and ruffles up your hair. "Don't worry, Y/n.. I know what your heart wants to say.." he says while kissing your forehead softly. "Don't try to rush yourself... Take your time-.." as he was about to finish an employee came in.

"Mr. Darling..!! One of the... Machines..." they trailed off as they saw you being held by Wally. Wally looks up at them with an annoyed face "Do you even know what knocking is..?!" He shouted gently. The employee smirks "Oh my~ does Mr. Darling finally have a new significant other~?" They say in a teasing manner. Wally stands up and storms over to them. "Tell Anyone and I will throw you in the grinder!" Wally shouts which makes the employee tense up.

You chuckle softly as you drift back to sleep. The colors that you drowned in lowered until you could breathe again. The screams were not there, it was pure silence. And instead of an endless Void, you find yourself in a neighborhood like the one you lived in. The sun was shining brightly, and the flowers were in full bloom. You walk along the path, but every step you take, leaves a gray footprint behind.

You decided to stop walking to avoid turning everything in this dream gray. You sat on the pavement and watched the sky until you close your eyes and woke up back in the office. You sit up and stretch. "Ah,Y/n, how are you feeling?" The Scientist asks as they write something down. "Much better..! How's my color?" You ask nervously. The scientist smiles sincerely "You look normal... I guess that means that you don't need to take the mix of spectra." They replied happily.

"Mr. Darling told me to tell you to meet him in his office once you were awake, And to hand him this." The Scientist spoke as they handed you the file of your experiment. "He will need to log what happens Daily for a month so we know if the spectra is powerful enough in the event Employees get hurt again." The Scientist said coldly. You stand up and thank them as you make your way to Wally's Office.

You Gathered your courage and knocked on the door. "Come in." He spoke from beyond the door. As you step in, You notice Him looking out the window towards the sky, Until he turns to face you. "Y/n!!" He shouted happily as he pulled you into a tight hug. "Wally..! I can't breathe..!!" You said as he Hugged as tightly as possible before he loosened up. "So sorry, Darling... I was just so worried about you ..!!" He said softly.

You look up at him and gently caress his cheek in your hand. "I'm alright now... the Scientist wanted me to hand you my file.. and since you have to write logs about me Daily for a month... I can set up the guest room at home...!" You Responded as he took the file from your hands. "Thank you, Y/n. If you need anything... I'm here for you..." Wally spoke softly as he pet your hair, still hugging you.
