CASSIAN

Wife

"Anak, do you have a girlfriend?"

I looked at my mother when she asked that.

She's been asking me the same question for weeks now and she's not done yet?

"Ma, I am still having fun with so many girls and you only wanted me to settle with one?" I asked and she immediately hit my arm, which made my father laughed.

"If karma hits you with your future wife, anak. Ikaw may kasalanan, you've been associating yourself with so many women. Just settle for one and love her real"

Love, psh! I only want to have fun to a girl or girls I am attracted to, why do I need to associate love with that.

"Ma, love only exist in selected people. And luckily, I am not one of them" I stated and proceed on playing chess with my father.

"Ako ang napapagod sa hobby mo na papalit-palit ng babae. Can you imagine your father cheating on me with another woman?"

My father and I both looked at her with horrified expression.

"That's impossible!" / "That's bullshit!" Dad and I exclaimed in unison, because my mom's remarks.

"Ma, he loves you too much. While love, romantic love is not even on my vocabulary. So, you can't really compare the two of us in that way" I added and she sighed.

"Anak, our time here is not that long" she softly stated and held my cheeks. Here she goes again. "I want to see you building your own family. Have your own person that will be with you when you grow old. We don't want to leave you here alone"

"You don't have to worry about me. It's going to be fine, I am going to be fine. I swear that if love knocks on my door, you are the first person who will know" I assured her this time, not like my usual answer to her.

"Promise her, son" dad commented.

"I swear. But for now, I will just wait for it and continue enjoying my single life" I chuckled and she sighed at me. "Don't worry about karma, Ma. It won't hit me"

"You better pray for that anak, you are so hard-headed with your so many flings"

And that conversation happened two years ago.

I left the country for two years and worked at LAPD. After I graduated and became a police officer, I just dedicated my time in working and partying on my free time. I never really thought that I will focus in other things, aside from working to have money and party to enjoy my life as a man.

Now, we just arrived at the same country we left, two years ago.

I went to my vault in my old room, which is at my parent's house. I saw my friend's bracelet that she don't wany anymore.

She's a teacher in a university now, while I just met her in a bar before. I bumped to her and had a little fight, I didn't even see her face clearly that time because someone pulled her away. While I saw her bracelet on the floor.

I really thought, I won't have a chance to return it, but then she came back inside the bar. Wearing the same dress, without her coat and looking so lost, so she's probably looking for her bracelet. I tried to return it, but she said it's mine now, which was weird, but I shrugged it off.

And from that moment, I joined her inside the bar because she said her friends went home already. We became friends that night.

Until now...
