Chapter 26

Trigger

When I heard that, I thought my anger will rule over me. But I guessed I am more rational now, if I will confront him because of that he will surely do something to keep me in this trap.

I pretended I didn't know a damn thing about his plan, but I decided to play a little. To trigger him and make him confess everything to me.

"Hon" I called his attention while we are relaxing in our bathtub.

"Hmm?" he asked while massaging my arms and his chin is on my shoulder.

"I have a new case" he nodded and kept on listening. "And I have a hypothetical question for you about it"

"What case though? I am not a lawyer, so I might not be a help either" he stated and I leaned comfortably on his chest.

"A rape case" his hands immediately stopped moving and I felt him stilled for a few seconds before he sighed.

"Rape?" he asked and I nodded. "And your question is?"

"The victim stated that she got raped, by her boyfriend and he defended himself by saying that he had her consent before they had sex. We are having a hard time proving that it's rape, because of their relationship and base on the medico-legal, it's not the first penetration of the victim, no other physical injuries or any sign that the victim defended herself from her boyfriend. So, let's say that you're the lawyer here, will you consider it as rape and do you think the accused is innocent just because they have a relationship?"

He immediately made me face him. And he looks so serious.

"If the victim stated that she got raped, then she was." He stated while holding my shoulder, like he wants me to put every word he will say inside my head. "Finding evidences might be the hardest part, but when the victim said that, then you should consider it as rape"

"But she might be faking it, knowing that she's mad at her boyfriend" he scoffed when I said that.

"Mad, probably because he raped her. Don't be stupid, don't invalidate the victim. You're probably at the suspect's side, but you're a lawyer with a goal to serve the justice"

"And you shouldn't also invalidate the suspect's statement. Not all the accused you will bring in court is the real suspect" I defended and he glared at me.

"And now, you won't consider it as rape because of the suspect's statement. Walang makasalanan ang aamin sa ginawa niyang pagkakamali" sermon pa niya.

Mukhang galit na talaga siya sa mga sinasabi ko, ang higpit na rin ng hawak niya sa braso ko.

"That's just a hypothetical question hon, why are you so mad?" I asked and he sighed, before he calmly held my shoulder again.

"I'm sorry about that, but please hon, don't just stop investigating a rape case, even if there are no solid proofs. The victim is the most affected person here, it's not you" he stated before he went out of the tub. "I'll take a shower first"

I smirked and watched him enter the shower. Are you triggered? Does that topic make you mad?

After he shower, he immediately went out of the bathroom with his towel on his waist.

He left me here just because he's mad, it's not even about him. I scoffed and immediately went out of the tub to take a quick shower. I am done triggering him for today.

He's drinking some rum when I went out of the bathroom and he's at the balcony of our room. I rolled my eyes and immediately went to the vanity table for my skincare.
