Just as usual, 'busy' is an understatement for my kind of work. Being the CEO of a huge conglomerate company, is sometimes....a pain in the a*s.
Nilagay ko sa mesa ang hawak kong folder at napahilot sa aking sintido. Pinikit ko ang aking mga mata bago napabuntong ng malalim.
"Is there anything worst than this?" Pagdilat ko ay boryo kong tinignan ang nakayuko at nanginginig na empleyado sa harap ko.
I tap my finger that's currently right on the table as I stare at my customized diamond clock just behind this female employee right in front of me. As I continue to tap my finger, I notice how the sound of the clock and the tapping of my finger make a perfect sync and rhythm that's very pleasant to my ears.

This seems to be opposite towards this female employee right now. At the corner of my eye, I saw how her hands which she tried so hard to hide... is trembling.
"How many applicants are left?" I decided to stop tapping my finger and instead, put my right elbow on the armrest of my chair and lean my face on my hand without changing my bored and lazy expression.
"W-with the currently 427 rejected applicants...we still have 48 applicants left who applied to be your new secretary."
"Oh...that's quite a number huh?" I mumbled then look back at her, "Do you know why they were rejected?" I said slowly while smiling lazily at her.
"Simple. It just so happened that they belong to my special lists..."
"Stupid. Dumb. Idiot." Pagdidiin ko sa bawat salita na sinabi ko.
Maya-maya ay biglang tumunog ang aking personal phone at pagtingin ko ay hindi ko maiwasan na mapakunot ng nuo.
'How...rare.'
I press the call button and put it on my ear. Tinignan ko ang empleyado sa harap ko bago sinenyasan ito gamit ng mata ko na maaari na siyang bumalik.
Pagkalabas niya ay don nako nag-umpisang kumausap sa kabilang linya.
"Hello...Father."
Then in another second, a deep magnetic voice resound through my phone.
"Vierra"
"Hmm"
"Do you remember the man I introduced to you a month ago?" Napatigil ako ng sandali sa pagpapaikot ng aking swivel chair dahil sa kanyang sinabi. Kasabay nito ay iba't-ibang klasing mga ala-ala ang bumalik sa aking isipan.
"...Yes, I do remember." I said while looking outside through my floor-to-ceiling window here on my huge office.
"Good, then look at your applicant list." I don't have a good feeling about this.
Bago paman ako makapagtanong ay inunahan na ako nito. "I know this is the 3rd day of hiring for your new secretary, just go look through it."
Napabuntong-hininga na lamang ako bago sinunod ang kanyang sinabi. Kinuha ko ang isang makapal na folder at mabilis na inisa-isa ang bawat pahina na naglalaman ng mga impormasyon ng mga aplikante ngayon.
I scan the papers very fast until I notice something. Applicant No. 425.
"Hmm. Found him." I said on the phone while my eyes still linger on the photo attach on the information of this applicant.
"Then what?" I lazily ask.
"Hire him...hire him as your secretary." Dahil sa sinabi niya ay hindi ko maiwasan na mapatawa ng mahina.
As expected of him. He even caught the attention of my aloof father.
"And why should I do that?" I ask teasingly as I stare at my new bloody colored nails.
Narinig ko na lamang siyang tumawa sa kabilang linya.
"Hmm...Just do it, so that you'll know what I mean." And just like that, he drop off the call which left me speechless.
That old man... I wonder what kind of mischievous thing is he planning to do?
Strangely, I'm quite thrilled.
Well, let's just get this over with.
Pagkatapos kong nilagay ang aking phone sa gilid ay pinindot ko ang call button na nag kokonekta sa labas.
"Bring applicant No. 425 in my office. Now." Tinignan ko sa huling beses ang kanyang impormasyon bago nilipat sa napakalaking black wooden double door sa dulo ng opisina ko.
Maya-maya ay mayroong kumatok. Nang napahintulutan na ay unti-unti ko ng naririnig ang yabag ng kanyang paa hanggang sa nakita ko ang isang tao na sobrang pamilyar para sakin.
I just stare at him lazily while my hand is supporting my chin. He slightly bow before stepping forward.
"Good day Miss Astrid." His deep seductive and magnetic voice resound throughout my office, breaking the unknown silence.
"...I'm Kian Elias Carter-"
"Enough...welcome to VA Mr. Carter," I stand up from my seat and went near him.
Tinignan ko siya sa mata bago inabot ang aking kamay.
"Your hired." Hinintay ko ang anomang ekspresyon sa mukha niya pero nanatili lamang siyang kalmado habang may nakapaskil na ngiti sa kanyang labi.
No more questions, I see. I guess he already expected it. It's a good thing I didn't let him finish his introduction or whatsoever.
Plus, we both know to ourselves what he came here for. Though the exact reason why I didn't let him finished was because I'm getting kind of bored.
"Gladly to work with you Miss Astrid. Please take care of me." He said as he shake hands with me with a calm smile plastered on his face.
"Well then, I will look forward on your performance, Mr. Carter. I have high expectations to it." Sabi ko habang diniin ang huling kataga.
'I know you know the meaning behind it.'
If you are really good to the point my father even acknowledge you...then you must prove it to me.
"You flattered me, Miss. Don't worry, I will not disappoint you" His smile deepened as his eyes curve.
'Cute'
But dangerous.
I can't help but slightly chuckle. "We'll see."
