Shanelle POV
As Vincent and I entered my penthouse, his arm securely wrapped around my waist, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief washing over me. The journey from the hospital had been tiring, but now I was finally home. Home is my only safe place in this entire world.
Beatrice and Kayleen greeted us eagerly at the door, their smiles wide and their eyes sparkling with anticipation. They enveloped me in warm hugs, their genuine affection palpable.
"Shanelle, we missed you so much! We're thrilled you're finally released from the hospital and back home," Beatrice exclaimed, her voice filled with genuine concern and happiness.
I smiled gratefully, appreciating their unwavering support throughout my recovery. Vincent and I settled onto the plush sofa in the living room, his arm still protectively around me, while Beatrice and Kayleen stood in front of us, their expressions a mix of excitement and concern. There was something about the way they were both looking at me. It was like they were very cautious around me like any wrong move would be my breaking point. I hated it. I hated the feeling.
"So, is there anything you'd like to eat or do today? We want to make sure you're comfortable and have everything you need." Beatrice asked and I glanced at Vincent, his presence was all I need right here.
"No thanks Bea, I think I would just like to stay in for today and relax. Maybe we could watch a movie or something," I replied softly, nestling closer to Vincent's side as I laid my head on his chest.
His arm instinctively tightened around me, providing a sense of security and warmth.
Beatrice and Kayleen exchanged relieved glances as if a weight had been lifted off their shoulders.
"Okay then. There's plenty of food and snacks in the fridge. Help yourselves to anything you'd like." Beatrice said.
"And there's ice cream." Kayleen chimed in, her voice filled with excitement.
A genuine smile spread across my face at their thoughtfulness. These girls knew me so well, always ready to provide comfort and support in any way they could.
"And where are you two going?"
"I have a booking in an hour," Kayleen said while staring down at her phone.
"I'm just going to head out as well, leaving you lovebirds alone to enjoy some quality time together," Beatrice said and then winks at me causing Vincent to chuckle.
We said goodbye to them as they made their way out of the penthouse. As the door closed behind them, a quiet stillness settled upon the spacious living room. Vincent and I were left alone, surrounded by the familiar comforts of home.
Leaning into Vincent's embrace, I breathed in deeply, savoring the feeling of being home and the presence of the man that I couldn't feel happier to be with.
OoO
As I walked back to the living room, carefully balancing two bowls of ice cream in my hands, the sweet aroma of the frozen treats filled the air. In one bowl, I had a generous scoop of creamy vanilla ice cream, adorned with fresh slices of ripe strawberries and a drizzle of chocolate syrup. The other bowl held a vibrant rainbow of colors, with a tangy scoop of mango sorbet crowned by chunks of juicy pineapple and a sprinkle of shredded coconut. The contrasting flavors and textures were a feast for the senses.
I settled down next to Vincent on the couch, passing him one of the bowls. He accepted it with a grateful smile, his eyes lingering on the tempting combination of flavors. With a quick press of the remote, the television came to life, and I selected a new movie on Hulu called "Culpa Mia." The film, spoken in Spanish, came with English subtitles, ensuring we could follow along.
