If there was one thing that Giyu gained from trying to beat Aoi in the race of making breakfast first, it was how to be early by the time someone else got to the Ubuyashiki estate, Giyu was able to get a two hour workout done alongside a power nap. Now he regretted not making breakfast because he was starved and if by some miracle Rengoku would talk to him it sure would be incredibly awkward after all if someone you tried talking to for the first time snapped and threw every insult in the dictionary at you, you would probably be very careful with your words around them, well if you went to talk to them in the first place.

"Rengoku, how is your morning today. Actually don't answer that it's a stupid fucking question speaking that I'm the one who's talking" Giyu said, Aoi told him to make conversations with the other's. Hell she made him promise that he would and he never explained why the other Hashira disliked him if that is even the right amount of intensity after all only three of them hated him the other three were always five feet back.

"Oh, hello Tomioka my morning is great today" Kyojuro said, it didn't matter how much Rengoku faked the enthusiasm Giyu could tell that on the inside Rengoku wanted to walk out of the estate just to hope that Giyu wasn't there by the time he walked back in. Who could blame him Giyu's anger wasn't directed towards Rengoku yet just because it wasn't meant for the man doesn't mean it hurts less when that man is on the receiving end of the words. Giyu could bet his life if anyone else took the brunt of that verbal assault the next time a Hashira meeting was called they wouldn't be there for one reason or another, but Kanae and Rengoku were always able to take the worst of what Sanemi said in order to the defend Giyu and the fact that his words had cut that deep into the soul of Rengoku Kyojuro, only showed the fact that his speech was a curse and if he was never able to speak again it would be for the better.

2 hours later

You would be surprised that Gyomei wasn't the second to last one that showed up based off the fact that he's blind but instead it was Kanae who was second to last or more accurately who was last. When Kanae arrived thousands of thoughts went through her head about how she would apologize to Giyu after all she knew who Giyu's out burst was directed at and yet it went to Rengoku instead of her. The only thing she could do now was wait for Tomioka to walk through those doors and try to talk with him. "Why good morning Kanae, how is your day going. And if you must know before answering my day is fucking shit I regret not eating breakfast today" Giyu said. "Oh well my day is going gre... wait Tomioka what are you doing here so early?" Kanae questioned while rude it was justified after just a month ago Giyu would walk through those door with 15 minutes to spare while saying nothing, and now he was two hours early while greeting every one. If tension's between Giyu and the other five Hashira weren't so high they would proclaim this to be a miracle and yet only Giyu saw this moment as a curse.

After the Hashira meeting

The dreaded words kept replaying in Giyu's mind "Kanae and Giyu are teammates for this month" Giyu didn't care that the master said those words, Giyu only cared that he was right about who he would be teamed with yet unlike expected Kanae didn't apologize until he couldn't take it anymore, the only thing she told him was. "I don't care if you hate me or don't forgive, but at least pretend that you accept my apology so are missions together won't be awkward. After all my plan on how to get you out of your shell was stupid and inconsiderate. I should've just tried to talk to you and make you feel comfortable in the conversation. Not push you to your breaking point, and for that I'm deeply sorry" Kanae said. She prepared herself for a berating that was even worse than the one he gave to Rengoku. "It's all in the past now, don't worry I forgive but I can't forget what happened. Maybe if I didn't have my new ray of sunshine in my life, I would probably say things I could never take back" Giyu said.

Flashback, two months ago

Kanae was about to go annoy Giyu again, but before she could make her way over to him she was stopped by Rengoku. "Kanae would you mind if I went to go and try to talk to Tomioka, he might just want someone to talk to that would listen before he is ready for actual conversations" Kyojuro suggested.

Giyu was in a particularly horrible mood that day as it was the day of his sisters death, he only came to the meeting so he could request to not have missions on this day. While he was in thought when heard the sound of footsteps approaching him and assumed that they belonged to Kanae. While usually he would let Kanae try to make him talk, today he just wanted everyone to ignore his existence. Giyu decided that he'll finally speak his mind to Kanae, no matter how harsh it would be he thought that she would deserve it.

"Hello Tomioka, I just wanted to tell you if you need someone to talk to I'm always he-" Kyojuro was cut off by Giyu. While Giyu wanted to hurt Kanae in some way his anger and thinking didn't allow to distinguish the voice of who just spoke to him.

"All I want from you is to just shut the fuck up, and keep your presence as far away from me as possible. It's a fucking wonder how you even managed to survive this long against the demons. In fact you'll be doing all of us a favor if you just joined your mother right here right now" Giyu said. As he looked over his shoulder so he could see Kanae's face, he didn't expect nor want to see the face in front of him. The face of Rengoku in tears, the man that Giyu aspired to be was the same person he told to just die already. Why was Rengoku in front of him? Why wasn't it Kanae? Why wasn't he paying attention to who was talking to him? Those questions replayed in his mind over and over again until.

"What the fuck did you just say to Kyojuro? What fucking game do you think your getting at, to just tell my buddy to die. A worthless piece of shit like you should know that if anyone deserved death it would be you for even saying that to Kyojuro. In fact go ahead and make yourself useful by leaving, the master won't care that you're not here for this meeting" Uzui said.

Giyu did what Tengen told him to do, he left the meeting and it seemed like Tengen was right as Kanzaburou didn't even come back with a letter from Kagaya about his absence from the Hashira meeting. While Giyu usually didn't drink he didn't care as he wouldn't be needed until the next day if he had to guess.

End of flashback

"Tomioka I would like you to join me at the Butterfly Mansion to have some tea. I don't think you ever met my little sister, and I know you haven't met my tsuguko. So what do you say will you join me for tea?" Kanae asked. " Yes, I would love to" Giyu said.
