Aoi was sleeping in her room when she felt someone shaking her to wake her up. "Hmmmm. Let me sleep for a little longer" Aoi said not wanting to wake up quite yet. "Ara ara~ are you sure you want to sleep longer if you do you won't have any breakfast before Final Selection" Shinobu said as Aoi shot straight up out of bed. "It's that day already?" Aoi asked as Shinobu giggled at her response. "Yes it is and Nee-San is making your favorite breakfast" Shinobu said as Aoi's eyes lit up "Yay salmon daikon" Aoi said rushing to leave her room until Shinobu dragged her back in. "Don't you think you should get ready first?" Shinobu asked. Aoi looked at Shinobu for a couple of seconds and then returned to her room to put on and pack the clothes for Final Selection. "I'm ready. How do I look Shinobu-Sama?" Aoi said as she left her room.

"You look beautiful" Shinobu said making Aoi smile. When the two made it to the dining they saw Naho, Kiyo, and Sumi setting up the table while Kanao was holding presents. "What's with the presents Kanao" Aoi asked, Kanao took a coin out of her pocket and flipped after seeing the result she shook her head at Aoi and walked away. "*Sigh* what did I expect" Aoi said to herself. "Are you ready for today Aoi?" Kanae said walking out of the kitchen with a big bowl of salmon daikon. "Yes Kanae-Sama, and after Final Selection I'm going to be the best Kinoe in the corps" Aoi said determined and took the salmon daikon. As she began eating Shinobu and Kanae watched her waiting for her to smile genuinely as she always did. "There it is" Kanae said though Aoi didn't hear it.
One hour later
When Aoi was about to leave the butterfly girls ran over to her and hugged crying and asking if she had to go. "Yes but don't worry I'll be back in a week" Aoi said comforting the three. "Bye, everyone. I'll see you when I'm back" Aoi gave her farewell and left before Kanae and Shinobu could become emotional.

When Aoi made it to the Final Selection she noticed that there were only two other people that seemed prepared as the other seventeen were either scared or oblivious to know how long Final Selection was and that there would be demons in the mountains. Aoi made her way over to the other people that were prepared to talk to them. "Hello I'm Kanzaki Aoi and I hope you two will make it out with me" Aoi said while the two laughed a bit "So you also noticed that we're the only ones prepared. My name is Tokito Yuichiro and this is my younger twin brother Tokito Muichiro" Yuichiro said as he waited for the response everyone gives them. "W-wait you two are boys?" Aoi asked surprised "Yeah don't worry about it though me and Yuichiro get that a lot" Muichiro said. "Well, we should make a plan to ensure our comrade's survival" Yuichiro suggested. As they were making a plan a girl came over to their direction "He-hey c-can you th-three protect me du-during Final Selection" she asked as they stopped making plans and looked at her "Of course we can after all it'll be our job as Demon Slayers to protect those that need our help" Muichiro said making her blush. "Th-thanks my name is Umetsu Ane it's a pleasure to meet you three" Ane said. "I'm Tokito Muichiro, this is my older twin brother Tokito Yuichiro, and this is our friend Kanzaki Aoi" Muichiro said with a slight blush. Aoi looked at the two and then went to talk to Yuichiro "Looks like someone is in love" Aoi whispered to Yuichiro as he nodded and smiled.
"May everyone please give us your attention. You all will spend a week in the mountains where you can either kill demons for seven days or go and wait at Mt. Fujikasane and wait for seven days. Those who survive will be assigned a Kasugai crow, they will be provided their uniform sometime during the week, and can choose what ore they prefer for their Nichirin sword. We hope that you pass" kagaya's son and daughter said.
During the first few days Aoi, Ane, and the twins dealt with weak demons that were overpowering other slayers. "These demons are nothing compared to Tazraden" Aoi sighed out of disappointment. "Who's Tazraden?" Ane asked "He wasthe former Lower Moon three. He almost killed me if it wasn't for Lady Shinobu and Lady Kanae coming to the scene in time" Aoi said holding the back of her head. "Then he must have been a strong foe" Yuichiro said. "If he was against the three of us we would've won" Muichiro said while Ane was just left awstruct. A demon almost killed Aoi? How when she's strong enough to knockout demons with her bare hands? Ane thought.
Timeskip
On the last day of Final Selection the group was walking to Mt. Fujikasane when they saw a horrifying sight. The other sixteen participants heads were all on the trail in front of them, while the only strong slayers their were Aoi, Muichiro, and Yuichiro no weak demon could kill sixteen slayers by theirself. As the trio were thinking about where the demon could be Ane felt something went drip on her head and she looked up. She saw the demon right above them and screamed, stratiling the three "Ane what's wrong?" Muichiro asked as Aoi looked up to see what Ane was screaming at. "Up there" Aoi said unseathing her sword. "So you found me doesn't matter you pip'squeaks won't stand a chance" the demon said jumping out of the tree. As Aoi faced him she saw the Kanji in it's eyes "Ex-Lower Moon five. Dosen't matter you'll kill you and avenge our fallen comrades" Aoi said as Muichiro and Yuichiro prepared for the demons attack. "Mui, Yui be careful Lower Moons Blood Demon Arts can be strong and tricky stay on guard. And Ane run to the mountain top we'll cover you" Aoi instructed.

The Ex-Lower Moon five had bones come out of it's back in a spiderweb shape and shot it out at them.

Aoi blocked all of the bones as Muichiro and Yuichiro went behind the Ex-Lower Moon.
Total Consentration First Form: Dark Moon, Evening Palace/Total Consentration Sixth Form: Lunar Dispersing Mist
Before the Ex-Lower Moon even had the chance to react it's head was cut off and sliced in half down the middle. "Your right Blood Demon Arts are tricky luckily this demon was stupid, arrogant, and weak. I wonder why it even was a Lower Moon" Yuichiro said. "Probably because it was creative maybe" Muichiro said "Or it was out of pity" Aoi suggested.
The trio then made their way to the mountain top and met up with Ane. "Are you guys hurt?" Ane asked worrying about their safety. "No that demon was barely stronger than the rest of them" Muichiro said disappointed. "That's good. So when exactly does it end?" Ane asked. "At day-break we officially become Demon Slayers" Aoi exclaimed. "Ane you should rest a bit we'll wake you up at day-break" Yuichiro said "*yawn* okay good night guys" Ane said before going to sleep.

The four picked the ore for their Nichirin swords with Aoi handing her sword with the ore so the Swordsmiths could replicate it. "Hey do you guys want to celebrate at my estate" Aoi asked with the three agreeing and they made their way to the Butterfly Mansion after getting their Kasugai crow.

*Knock knock knock* Kanae hearing the knocking went to it knowing that Aoi came back. "Welcome back Aoi... Ara ara~ who are they Aoi?" Kanae asked. "There friends I made at Final Selection and just so happen to be the only other survivors" Aoi said looking at Ane and the twins. "Well you four must be hungry come in" Kanae said as the quartet entered and ate. "Man I feel beat" Muichiro said with Yuichiro and Aoi sighing in agreement as the three fell asleep not long after.
