With Aoi

After Aoi woke up she tried to get out of bed, but couldn't due to the immense pain in her body. "Well I guess that won't work" Aoi thought as she then analyzed her surroundings. "A hospital room? How did I get here?" Aoi questioned herself. While Aoi was thinking to herself, she heard footsteps coming her way, she put her guard up ready to try and fight whatever threat came her way.

"Ara ara~ looks like someone is worked up. Tell me are you feeling any better and by any chance may I know your name" a girl with lavender eyes and two pink and green butterfly ornaments in her hair said. "I'm in a lot of pain, especially in my arms, head, and ribs." Aoi said while holding onto her head as it was throbbing in pain. "Hmm well that is to be expected due to your injuries, it seems the effect of the ointment hasn't kicked in yet." the girl said while Aoi continued to take note of everything in the room.

"You know you still haven't told me your name" the girl said. "Ohh my name is Aoi... Kanzaki Aoi and you are?" Aoi said and asked "My name is Kocho Kanae" Kanae said before giving Aoi her medicine. "Take this it'll ease the pain" Kanae said. Aoi looked at the medicine and hesitantly took it as she then asked for her haori as it had everything she brought with her. "I'm sorry Aoi but the only thing we could recover was this box" Kanae said handing Aoi the box that had her necklace in it. After hearing that Aoi broke down, the only part of her family that is with her only remains in this box and she had no idea where she was or where Giyu's estate was.

With Giyu

That morning Giyu woke up to make a birthday breakfast for Aoi. "*sigh* You Kanzaburo I think I worry about Aoi too much. She's a strong girl and my worrying about her made me yell at her because I was scared for her safety." Giyu said to his sleeping Kusugai crow. "You know what I'll sign her up for Final Selection. After all, she'll make it out without a scratch and she's as skilled if not more skilled than Sabito was" Giyu said making his decision.

After Giyu made Aoi breakfast he knocked on her door. "Aoi are you up? I wanted to apologize for last and I came to the decision to sign you up for Final Selection" Giyu said. After getting no response Giyu opened the door to wake up Aoi. "Aoi it's time to wake u... Aoi?" Giyu said confused as there was no indication that Aoi was already up. Giyu left her room and checked the training area only to see the dummies in the same position they were in since the last week. "Aoi I know your mad but hiding from me won't help" Giyu said a little worried as he went to check Tsutako's part of the estate as it was Aoi's favorite place. "Aoi you in here?" Giyu asked while opening the door. As he went into the room he didn't see Aoi, as he was going to check the perimeter, Kanzaburo came to Giyu with a note in his talons. Giyu grabbed the note and began to read it.

"Oto-San, I'm doing what I think is best and I'm leaving to join Final Selection. I'll be back home when I become a Kinoe rank Demon Slayer, and make you proud. I know that you'll be worried but I'll be fine so you don't need to worry about me. Love Aoi" Giyu dropped the note after reading it and had Kanzaburo find and follow her footprints.

Timeskip

After a couple of hours of following Aoi's footprints, Giyu began to smell the faint scent of blood he began to panic and started running faster. "No no NO that can't be Aoi it just can't be" Giyu started to repeat to himself. After a couple of minutes, Giyu made it to the source of the smell and his heart stopped due to the sight that was in front of him, it was a broken part of Aoi's sword stuck in the middle of a puddle of blood along with her haori that had been torn, and lastly, the box holding Tsutako's spare ribbon. Giyu fell to his knees looking at the sight in front of him and uncontrollably began to cry. "Why... Why am I THIS USELESS? Even when I try my FUCKING BEST to PROTECT someone they just DIE... WHY DID I ARGUE WITH AOI? She would still be alive. The only person... I cared for... is dead... because of me." Giyu screamed in between breaths as he looked at his and stabbed it into his back slowly dragging it down as he thought. No Aoi wouldn't want this. Giyu thought as he took his sword out of his back and grabbed everything he could out of the puddle of blood. When he got home he made a grave for Aoi as he tied the ribbon around his arm. "If I'm going to die then I should die to a demon" Giyu said as he started to drink the day away.
