They left for their next date bright and early in the morning because if they wanted to do and see more, they had to get up earlier. One of their stops: visiting the Redwood Forest. Then a bit of shopping at a mall before doing some more sightseeing. Wednesday and Enid got momentarily separated in the mall due to the crowds but Enid was eventually able to follow Wednesday's scent and find her wandering by a jewelry store.

After lunch Enid took Wednesday to visit the werewolf part of town. First up, was some of the very first buildings the werewolves had built in order to be free to be themselves despite living among humans.

"The first building they built was a bar," Enid said, like 'typical wolves.' Wednesday listened intensely and asked lots of questions. Enid didn't even have answers to most of them because shamefully she didn't know everything about being a wolf.

"There's a lot about wolf culture I haven't learned yet. A lot of it is passed both from family to family and the traditions get lost or banned along the way. Apparently there used to be different types of wolves too but most species died out and it's now just mostly North American and Eurasian ones."

"I wonder if that's perhaps something your mother was mentioning?" Wednesday said. "The fact that you're different? Could it be simply you're a different type of wolf, one that hasn't been seen in centuries?"

Enid had never thought that could be possible. Could that truly be what this was all about? That Enid wasn't in any actual danger of a curse; it simply was that she was a different species?

"Do you think so?"

"It's possible. We won't know until we look into this more."

When dusk fell they went to the woods with the crescent moon waterfall that Enid and her family had enjoyed going to. Wednesday carried with her a picnic basket. "There is nothing more beautiful than picnicking under the moonlight."

Enid could argue that Wednesday was more beautiful than that, but she didn't say anything. They climbed through the woods to the top of the cliff where below them a small waterfall fell into the pond below where stars had been captured from the night sky.

It was chilly and a small wind blew around them. The woods were quiet other than their voices as they talked. Wednesday spread out the blanket and unpacked the food and drink she had brought. The options were favorites of them both. They sat and ate and Enid allowed herself to feel at peace, admiring the nature around her and enjoying Wednesday's presence.

The dark haired girl looked at one with the darkness, the moonlight brushing over her cheeks like highlights. Enid wished she could openly touch Wednesday like the moon beams did. She blinked, taken out of her reverie when Wednesday started clearing the food and drink into the basket.

"Are we leaving?"

"I just want to make some space," Wednesday said nonchalantly. Then she turned to Enid and dropped to one knee. She pulled out a black box and opened it. Enid almost choked on her saliva.

"Is that....is that a ring?" Enid gasped out.

"We did say we'd get fake married to make your mother even angrier," Wednesday stated.

"I thought....I thought we were just joking around," Enid wheezed, clutching a hand over her chest where her heart felt like it was about to leap out of her chest.

"Enid, since when do you take me for someone who jokes around lightly?" Wednesday put the ring box back into her pocket. "However, if this makes you uncomfortable-"

"No, it's alright!" Enid quickly hastened. She held out her hand, wriggling her fingers impatiently. Wednesday took the box back out and slipped the ring onto Enid's trembling hand. Enid raised it up high, admiring it. It was made of gold, with small stones set into it that ran around the entire band that was shining with all different colors of the rainbow.
