Enid must have drifted off under Wednesday's soothing hand running through her hair because the next thing she knew, Wednesday was gently shaking her awake.

"Enid, I believe your mother is requesting our presence," Wednesday said and Enid sat up, wiping a bit of drool that had escaped down her chin while she had slept. Had she drooled on Wednesday during the nap?

She would never emotionally recover if she did. "Huh?" she said, trying to be discreet about wiping the drool away.

"Your mother wants to talk with us," Wednesday clarified.

"Oh." That couldn't mean anything good. The two of them headed to the living room where a pack meeting had been called.

Esther stood in the middle of the room, looking all self important, hands on her hips. Enid's brothers sat on the mismatched and worn down couches. Murray sat at the lone armchair. This left no space for Wednesday and Enid to sit down.

"I think it's time we talked about your relationship with Wednesday more seriously," Esther began. "Sending you to that school and having you spend time with Wednesday clearly has been a bad influence on you." Enid opened her mouth to speak but Esther raised a hand and Enid closed her mouth. She was fuming on the inside. Wednesday was not a bad influence.

"However, if she's really serious about being with you, she needs to prove herself to us, the old tried and true pack way."

This time Enid did speak up. "You can't be serious. No one does that anymore. Besides, Wednesday is not a werewolf."

"Exactly my issue. She's not a werewolf. You need to find a mate that can keep up with your wolf nature."

"Wednesday does that just fine!"

"I enjoy Enid's sharp claws, and her sharp teeth. I am sure her transformation will be nothing short of magnificent when you see it. I truly appreciate the beauty in it."

"Then if that is the case, Wednesday should have no issue in completing the tasks presented to her."

"I accept," Wednesday said, taking a step forward.

"Wednesday!" Enid snapped out. "You have no idea what that entails!"

"I don't, and that's what makes it all that more enticing. Knowing I might be walking towards certain doom to protect you." Wednesday took Enid's hand in hers and kissed the back of it. "Nothing is too impossible if it means proving I am yours as irrefutably as you are mine."

Was Wednesday trying to make Enid swoon in front of her family? She just barely managed to keep her blush under control. She could hear her youngest brother make a 'bleh' sound at their open display of affection.

"If you lose, you must break up with Enid immediately, and request a room transfer at Ophelia Hall. I want your influence as far away from her as possible."

"And when I win, I retain the right to date your daughter," Wednesday said.

"Good. As per the laws of the challenge, each of the pack members from the pack you are contesting must present you with their own task to overcome. Lose even to one and you lose entirely," Esther said.

"I don't lose," Wednesday said staunchly.

"We'll see," Esther smiled cruelly. With that, the meeting was adjourned. When the family vacated the room, Enid grabbed Wednesday by the elbow and marched her upstairs to the tiny attic room.

"Wednesday, what are you thinking? There's no way you can stand up to a whole pack of werewolves!" Enid began, whisper shouting at Wednesday.

Wednesday arched her brow at Enid's reaction. "Enid, it's almost as if you don't know me."
