Dear diary,
Lily isn't doing too well. She's gotten better, don't get me wrong, but she hasn't picked up a book in weeks. Her top priority used to be studying for her O.W.Ls. But, Now? She's too busy crying over Severus to care about them any more.
I'm not doing much better either. It turns out that Lily is still pretty mad at me too. I'm not sure why, but considering she was the one who called me an idiot, I think it's pretty unfair.
Remus suggested that I meet him outside of the Great Hall so that we can 'relax and forget about everything for a while'. And while I'm not sure what he has planned, I'm sure that it's definitely not anything like the crude ideas Sophie and Lara have been thinking of...
"Penny," Remus blew out a light breath and smiled. "You actually came."
Penelope took note of the light pink adorning his cheeks and smiled back. "Of course I did. You're my best friend."
"Right, yeah." He clapped his hands together in the beat of silence, clearing his throat before the situation could become awkward between them. "Uh, I thought that you," Remus pointed at her with his clasped hands, rocking back and forth on his heels. "Could use a bit of a distraction from everything going on with Lily."
Smiling even more at the mischievous grin appearing on his face, Penelope followed him as he started to walk while talking. "It's just us because James would talk about Lily too much, Sirius is off on a date with some random Ravenclaw girl, and Peter- Well, it would just be awkward for him if it was just the three of us." He let out a light laugh as Penelope tried to understand what he meant. Is this a date?
"Plus, I haven't hung out with you in a while and I've missed you." Remus flung his arm around the girl as they kept walking.
Soft smiles and awkward glances were shared for a moment before they reached their destination – Filch's office. This is definitely not a date.
"Remus, why are we here?" Penelope laughed as she tried to figure out what was running through the boy's mind.
"We're going to steal some of your Dungbombs back to put on a prank." He put his hands in his pockets as he sauntered to the door.
"You're trying to get my mind off Lily, by making us do something that she hates?" She took a few steps away from the office, weary of being caught by any professors or prefects on patrol.
"She won't hate it if we just don't get caught." Remus pulled out his wand from his pocket and unlocked the door, not bothering to consider the consequences of Filch being in his office.
"Remus!" Penelope ran towards him as the door creaked open. "What if he's in there?" She blinked a few times to allow her eye to adjust to the dim lighting of the room. The lights were off, it was so obvious he wasn't there.
"Come on, when have you ever seen me get caught in a prank?" Remus had a point. Whenever the boys pulled a prank together Remus rarely ever got caught, and, on the rare occasion that he did, he always got out of it punishment-free. Penelope had always known that he was the smartest of the boys, but never really understood how much it helped with their pranks until now.
While Penelope was thinking, Remus searched through his desk and found her confiscated items from her first year at Hogwarts. Nothing looked out of place on his desk and Remus even brushed the dust off the desk to get rid of the disruption of the dust pattern. He was being so careful with every detail, it was making it impossible for Penelope to say no.
