Dear diary,

As much as I hated most of the time I spent preparing for my OWLs, I always thought that from the moment my sixth year started I would hate preparing for my NEWTs so much more. It may be early on in the year, but I'm starting to think that I got the wrong idea.

Studying the subjects I want to study because I love them is so much better than the compulsory classes we had to take for the first five years. This is so much more freeing and relaxed. Plus, we get at least four free periods a week which means there are so many prank opportunities!

Though all this is great, one thing that hasn't changed is that I still live for our group common room meet-ups at the end of every day...

The quiet sound of chatter was flooding the common room on the regular Friday night. First-years had run off to their dorms to get ready for their first weekend of the school year. Second and third-years had yet to return to their house common room, making the most of the hour they had left before curfew. Fourth and fifth-years were scattered around the room, some studying for their classes and others joking with their friends about teachers.

Gryffindor's sixth-years took up their places from the many years previous. Peter Pettigrew sat in the lone chair to the right of the sofa, his usual on-edge feeling comforted by the red furnishings of the room. Sophie Slytherin and Lara Zonko sat next to each other on the sofa, laughing and talking lively to anyone willing to converse with them. James Potter and Sirius Black sat on the floor between the two seats, courteously giving up their seats to the girls in the group. Lily Evans sat on the opposite end of the table, cushion beneath her as she denied Remus' offer of getting an extra chair. Remus Lupin himself sat in front of the sofa leaning his head back as he listened to the jokes and friendly insults being thrown around. And finally, Penelope Pettigrew sat behind him, fingers threaded into his mousy brown hair as she thought up her own worlds.

James and Sirius were telling a story about how the Marauders took it upon themselves to introduce their newest friend, Harvey Hufflepuff, with their 'traditional' Gryffindor initiation prank. Harvey had taken it well when his entire wardrobe of clothes had been turned bright red, wearing the colour with confidence until he had been caught 'out of uniform' by Professor McGonagall.

He was due to come back from detention any minute, finally free to join them for their daily debriefs in their house common room.

"So-" James cut himself off from laughing.

"You should have seen Minnie's face-" Sirius did the same thing as he threw his head back, hand coming up to brush the hair out of his face.

"It was quite a sight to see." A new voice joined their conversation.

"Hey, Harvey!" Remus turned his head to look around the sofa.

The newest student came into the view of the group. His brown hair fell in curls over his forehead, clearly not styled yet every hair seemingly into it's perfect place. Darker brown eyebrows were mostly covered by his hair, but not enough that you can't see the way he raised his right eyebrow when he had everyone's attention. Caramel brown eyes were the focal point of his face though, still standing out despite the brown theme his features had. His school shirt undone at the top and his scarlett red and gold tie hanging loosely from his neck, perfect to pull him into a ki-

He was hot.

"Hey..." Sophie was the first of the girls to talk, leaning back on to the arm of the sofa and tilting her head to the side. Her gaze stayed on him, like everyone else's, as she looked at him fully, observing the practically perfect image in front of her.

"Uh- Welcome to Gryffindor!" Lara smiled in an overexcited manner that made the boys of the group share a few glances.

"Hey." Harvey took a few steps further sitting down on the floor in between Remus and Lily. He rested back on hands, veins becoming more prominent as he put pressure on his palms, and he straightened his legs out in front of himself. Stretching his neck out, he tipped his head back and left his neck out to be on display.

He looked around the group, taking a few extra seconds on the girls he hadn't met before, not in a rush to start any conversations.

"You must be the girls I've heard so much about."
