As the year moved on, the excitement of their Miami vacation soon gave way to the normal pace of life back in New York.Tony had been determined to keep Aria's magical education on track, so he'd arranged for personal wizarding tutors to work with her.
Those tutors were well versed in both traditional and modern magical education, which ensured that Aria would still stay sharp in her studies.
Returning to her life with the Avengers, Aria slowly adapted to the bustling life in the penthouse. Although she'd been sad to see Thor and Loki return to Asgard for reasons unknown to her , Aria began to find her place again. She actually missed the high-tech environment of the penthouse.
Sirius, thanks to his connections, kept tabs on the situation at Hogwarts. He learned that the school had been thrown into disarray when it was discovered that one of the professors had been possessed by Voldemort. The crisis had nearly resulted in the loss of the Philosopher's Stone, but James Potter and Remus Lupin had intervened just in time to prevent a major disaster.
The severity of the situation only reinforced Tony's decision to keep Aria away from such dangers.
He'd also decided it was time for Aria to have a more traditional educational experience as well. He knew his daughter could balance magical education with standard academic subjects, and so he enrolled her in a prestigious New York City school.
The education system in the wizarding world was significantly behind in comparison to modern standards, especially when it came to subjects like science, mathematics, and technology.
That was not going to be his daughter. Nope.
When summer rolled around, Tony and the avengers took a family trip to Wakanda, invited for King T'Challa's birthday celebration.
The visit promised to be an extraordinary experience, and Aria quickly hit it off with Princess Shuri— in fact, it didn't take them more than three minutes to disappear into the royal palace's labs.
Aria had told him that he'd so lose his mind over the advanced technology, which far surpassed their own. She and Shuri had spent hours 'playing around' with the Vibranium technology, and nobody failed to notice how his daughter's bag looked way bulkier compared to how it'd been when she'd initially arrived.
Meanwhile, Tony found himself constrained to socializing with the "grown-ups," as Capsicle diplomatically phrased it. Although the billionaire was eager to see Wakanda's technological marvels up close, he was stuck attending formal events and engaging in discussions with dignitaries and officials.
It was totally unfair.
One thing that made it worth it though, was watching Sirius try to blend in with all the military leaders , royal relatives and special guests. The man looked like a tourist in a boardroom— it was funny seeing him hold conversation with a man from the tribal council—
What Tony hadn't expected though, was to see the two slowly start to hit it off, exchanging hearty laughs and enthusiastic backslaps as if they've been friends since kindergarten.
And he might , or might not have heard something akin to 'for a man who fights using a tiny wooden stick, you sure have some serious gut.'
For Aria's twelfth birthday, she requested something simple and cozy: a family movie night.
The Avengers, ever keen to indulge her, transformed their penthouse into a plush movie theater for the evening. A massive screen was set up in the living room, with a mountain of snacks and comfy seating arranged for the whole family.
Tony, Pepper, Steve, Bucky, Wanda, Clint, Bruce, Sam , Vision, Sirius, and Aria spent the night watching a mix of classic films and new releases, enjoying the relaxed atmosphere and each other's company.
Somewhere between the fourth and fifth movie, Thor had arrived.
To mark the occasion, he proposed that Aria give lifting Mjolnir a try.
Aria didn't know if she thought she was worthy... but she knew if she didn't try, she was always going to wonder. So she did, and of course it didn't budge. Not even a little.
"... It's the hammer's loss. I'm great."
Just as expected— mjolnir stubbornly remained just where it was, not moving so much as an inch. For thor, a never - ending source of amusement.
The chuckle that followed was light, short; the smile that remained was genuine. "I don't doubt that. It's no slight against you, lady Aria. Some of the greatest people I've had the fortune to know could not lift it." In came one large hand, clapping reassuringly (so he hoped) against her shoulder.
"You don't need the hammer to validate your worth. You're already worthy and formidable by yourself."
It had been a perfect, low-key celebration, exactly as Aria had wished.
Around mid-September, a letter arrived from Dumbledore. It had been quickly disposed of, unopened and unread. Tony and Pepper's focus was entirely on Aria, her happiness and improvements.
And as the year progressed, Aria continued to excel in both her magical studies and her normal education. Her grades were more than satisfactory, and her performance in both realms exceeded expectations.
Tony and Pepper were proud of their daughter's accomplishments, especially given the complexity of juggling two very different educational systems.
Pepper had also noticed a shift in Aria's interests recently. They would occasionally head out for shopping trips, and Pepper would patiently guide her through the aisles of dresses and accessories, helping her pick out items that suited her evolving tastes. Aria had also taken to painting her nails.
Overall, life had settled into a comforting routine. The family's focus was on making the most of their time together, as well as protecting the civilians when the time called for it.
Aria hadn't expected it.
The news hit the wizarding world like a sledgehammer: a student at Hogwarts had died. A student who, unfortunately, became a permanent part of the chamber's decor. Yep, near the end of the year, someone was found dead in the Chamber of Secrets.
The ancient, secret lair built by Salazar Slytherin—because who doesn't need a hidden chamber in their school, right?
Naturally, Hogwarts decided to shut down for the rest of the year. Apparently, 'murder' and 'petrified students' are deal-breakers for academic continuity.
Harry Potter and his gang did their best to play detectives and managed to find their way into the Chamber, but by the time they got there, the damage was already done. The boy was dead.
Add in the fact that a bunch of students had been petrified throughout the year—it was clear Hogwarts had a serious crisis on its hands.
What shocked Aria and the avengers was hearing that Hogwarts planned to reopen its doors the following year.
How any sane parent could send their children to a place like that was honestly beyond them. The school was a death trap.
Aria would die three times before she'd ever set foot again.
Or so she thought.
Author's note :
RAHHH I KNOW, I know , it's been uneventful, but trust me , it gets better. I'm trying to speed up the Aria growing process without making too much of a giant jump—
I hope you're enjoying the story? 😭 honestly I didn't think I'd come back to it— especially considering I've been gone for a year, but everyone was asking me to update it. And I was like, hold up? Maybe people are actually enjoy it. So yeah , I'll try to update it whenever I have the time <3
