The trip to Washington D

The trip to Washington D.C. had been fun, though a bit longer than Aria would have liked. Sure, the excitement of the Academic Decathlon was in the air, but she knew she could've gotten there much quicker using one of Tony's jets.

Unfortunately, the rules were clear: they had to travel with the rest of the group. So, Aria had spent the hours on the bus clocking out the others with AirPods in her ears as she dozed off.

When they finally arrived at the hotel, things took a more enjoyable turn. The group was buzzing with energy, and after settling in, they decided to sneak out at 3 a.m. to hit the indoor pool.

The thrill of doing something they weren't supposed to made it all the more exciting. They laughed and splashed around, trying to keep their voices low, but the risk of getting caught was part of the fun. At one point, they almost did— a hotel staff member wandered close by, but they managed to get back to the rooms just in time.

The next day brought the main event—the decathlon. Aria was focused and ready to compete.

Peter, unfortunately, wasn't there. Flash had taken his place, much to Aria's surprise. As they lined up for the competition, she couldn't help but feel a pang of concern.

Liz had mentioned that Peter might have an upset stomach, but Aria wasn't entirely convinced. She found herself glancing around, half-expecting Peter to show up at the last minute. But he didn't, and the decathlon went on without him.

They won.

The winners decided to visit the Washington Monument, a must-see for any trip to D.C, according to their teacher.

Aria had been there before so she lagged behind as the others followed the tour guide, opting to talk to her mom for a bit instead.

The familiar face of Pepper Potts appeared on her phone screen, looking as polished and put-together as ever.

"Aria! How's the trip going?" Pepper's voice was warm, genuinely curious, and Aria couldn't help but feel a little more at ease.

"It's good," Aria replied, glancing over at the group ahead of her. "Everyone's really excited about the monument. Can't say I relate."

Pepper chuckled. "I figured. Tony dragged you around D.C. when you were what, ten?"

Aria nodded, her attention half on the conversation and half on making sure she didn't lose sight of her classmates. "Yeah, I think that was when. It's still cool. Oh, and we won"

"Of course you did."

"Hey, Aria, you coming?" Liz asked, holding the door for her as the others squeezed inside.

Aria glanced at the crowded elevator and then back at her phone. She wasn't in a rush and figured she could talk to Pepper for a bit longer.

"You guys go on ahead," she said, waving them off with a small smile. "I'll catch up in a bit."
